In 2016, Kate was living in Woodbridge, Virginia just outside of Washington, D.C. She was teaching Gifted Education. Clint was living in Dallas, Texas and working as a building consultant. That Spring, Clint traveled to Alexandria, Virginia to begin a five month long building project at the new MGM Grand Hotel. It was a Friday afternoon when Kate headed to Alexandria with her Pomeranian puppy, Nala, to do a little shopping in Old Town. First stop, coffee at Starbucks. While waiting for her Mocha Frappuccino, Nala wandered over to a gentleman waiting for his beverage as well. He just couldn't ignore her sweet face and all of those kisses. It was love at first sight (Clint & Nala that is...). Clint introduced himself to Kate. He used the "I'm new in town and don't know anyone" line and they exchanged numbers. The following Tuesday they made dinner plans, choosing Mason Social. Awkward first date dinner conversation ensued. Within this conversation Kate said "You can't let me fall for you because I will never move to Texas, I'm from New York." After dinner they strolled to a (rat infested) park on the Potomac River and talked for hours. That summer, they spent every day together and they knew they had something special. They fell in love. The following year, Kate ended up moving to Texas.

It really was a dark and stormy night when we headed to Reunion Tower on December 22, 2017. It was the start of winter break for Kate; Clint wanted to treat her to a nice dinner and a view of Dallas from the top of the tower. As per their dinner date traditions, they asked for the dessert menu first. “Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first.” With the dessert menu Kate got an early Christmas present; a gift that said miss, but it was crossed out and said Mrs. underneath. She looked up at Clint and saw a glint of pure love in his eyes. He made his way to her side of the table and asked her to be his wife, to which she replied "it would be an honor to be your wife." They celebrated with congratulatory baked Alaska and champagne!
