We are hoping you will use our wedding week as a launching/landing pad for a fun European vacation!
We have rented the chateau from 9/25 at 4pm through 9/30 at 11am. We'd love to have you there for every single second in between
For those staying in the chateau with us, a breakfast buffet will be provided every morning of your stay. As it's a buffet, you can totally use it as a late breakfast/early lunch - lunch will not be provided. Dinner will be provided for everyone the 1st, 3rd (wedding), and 5th nights. We were intentional about not having dinner together every night as a way of allowing space and time to try some of the amazing restaurants nearby (plenty being Michelin-starred). There will also be a big brunch/bbq the day after the wedding (9/28). All food will be prepared onsite by the hotel's restaurant, and it will be very traditionally French. You may also dine at the chateau's restaurant at any time and start your own tab. If staying in the chateau, you will have no access to a kitchen/refrigerator and food is ("officially") not allowed in the rooms. If you have absolutely any dietary restrictions/preferences, please let us know ahead of time so we can do our best to accommodate!
The only formal event happening all week will be the wedding. Outside of that, please wear whatever you'd like! Late September in SW France is very similar to the Bay Area, aka high 60's - 70's aka *idilic*, so layers will be your friend. Bring a swimsuit (THERES A POOL). Bring comfy cozies. Bring what you feel confident in. Probably don't bring stilettos (grass, ladies. grass.) * For the ladies: I (Jane) will be using the week as an excuse to wear every single piece of white clothing I own. I'll probably get a little dressed up/cute every day cause I'm excited lol but that absolutely does not mean you need to! For the wedding, I just want you to feel awesome. Please wear that dress you love but never get to wear or buy that fun dress that you’ve wanted for so long. Wear a sick power suit. If you love it, I love it. My single (obvious) ask is: No white/cream/ivory/light yellow/anything even remotely close to white. Don’t be that guy ;)
Great question. You will get the full week breakdown upon your arrival (Hi, my name is Jane and I’m OCD) We know there will be a lot of games, chillin', swimmin', forest walks, volleyball games (for those who do such things), and definitely a wine tasting somewhere in there. We also want to allow some time for you to do your own thing and explore where you want to explore, so trust that the week won't be overwhelmingly packed. Our household loves its introvert time, so feel free to opt in or out of whatever you'd like (minus the wedding. sorry, no excuses, play like a champion)
The venue is a 15th century castle. In the countryside. I repeat: the venue is a 15th century castle (super old), and it’s in the countryside. So why are we emphasizing this? Well first, cause that’s why we chose it. The charm factor is off the charts. But that also means a couple things. First and foremost, it isn’t an Airbnb. Or even a typical hotel. It’s a family-run operation. The folks are lovely, and Olivier, the owner, took great care of us. His grown kids work for him. It’s adorable. It also means that they can’t get you that super obscure type of milk you like, and they do say No to things they can’t do or that aren’t reasonable. The place is very comfortable with comfy beds, hot water, modern bathrooms (tubs w shower attachments), but can also be a bit drafty and doesn’t have central heat or AC (again, 15th century). It has steam radiators & fans instead. Finally, the ivy on the building is real, which means some ladybugs may hang out around the outside and inside of your window sill. As Olivier said when we asked him about this: “c’est la compagne” (“this is the country”). As the Silicon Valley saying goes, this is a feature, not a bug. So come with those expectations. If there are any real issues, we know Olivier will take care of us. And if you have any serious concerns, please let Mo know. We loved our stay, we were comfy the whole time, and we trust you will be too.
All good! We have plenty of people who are not staying at the chateau. There are tons of cute Airbnbs nearby, or B&B's, whatever your preference. We would love to have you for as much time as we can get you! Everyone is invited to hang out at the chateau during the day, as well as for the 3 dinners and post wedding brunch. Again, please let us know if we can help with your planning in any way!!
Yes. We 100% recommend renting a car. See the travel tab for more info
We aren't. You coming to our WEDDING in EUROPE is the greatest gift we could ever imagine.
