Brendan and Shannon met thanks to a wedding, not unlike this one. It was June 2021, the first weekend Las Vegas reopened in earnest. Friends convinced Brendan to go talk to Shannon, who “seemed cool” (his words). They got to talking and haven’t stopped since. Meeting in Las Vegas, a city neither of them lived in, and living on opposite sides of the country, the cards seemed stacked against them. And yet, they made it work. They planned weekend trips in New York and Chicago. Brendan braved the cross-country flight to Los Angeles more times than he can probably count. They FaceTimed when Shannon woke up and before Brendan went to bed. They spent holidays with each other’s families. Finally at the end of 2022, Shannon bet it all on Philadelphia and moved in with Brendan. A year later, on Thanksgiving (Brendan’s favorite holiday), he proposed to Shannon as they hosted dinner for their families in their shared home for the first time. Our love story wouldn't be possible without our friends, who played matchmaker without even knowing it, and our families, who supported us from coast to coast.
