Mother of the Bride's Escort
Audrey is Troy's daughter and Taylor's stepdaughter. A professional Manga-reader, Audrey's personal mission is to know more about anime than Troy, but only the cool ones. Her other mission is to prove she already knows more about everything else than Taylor. Creative, smart, stubborn, and funnier than she leads on, Audrey is the center point of Troy's family and has been welcomed into Taylor's family wholeheartedly. Audrey will be performing the high-honor task of escorting Taylor's mother (whom she calls Grandma) down the aisle. Favorite Memory: Audrey learned how to do a pretty spot-on impression of Jennifer Coolidge. She and Troy proceeded to spend 40 minutes talking back and forth to each other in that voice one afternoon, unable to stop laughing. They are definitely related.
Officiant
Not actually a nun, Jay is part of the group of friends Troy acquired here in Greensboro. A playwright, trivia host, justice of the peace, and all around good time, Jay can usually be found with us at Grey's Trivia on Wednesday night, singlehandedly winning the final round for us, trash talking with Troy about NC college basketball, or trading theatre hot takes with Taylor. We're so glad someone who knows us so well has agreed to be in charge of such an important part of the ceremony! Favorite Memory: Winning Trivia so many times the host (allegedly) asked a podcast how to stop us from winning so people wouldn't get bored and stop coming
Man of Honor
Taylor has known Matthew for his entire life! He is her younger brother, and despite an age difference of two and a half years, they have always been incredibly close. Whenever they're in the same place, you will find the two of them talking very fast about current events and internet stuff, most likely dropping SAT words and speaking at a volume that makes TV watching difficult for anyone nearby. Taylor's Favorite Memory: Goofing off in the kitchen late at night and not being able to stop laughing about very stupid things ("Hales of Bay")
Best Man
When Troy met Harry back in 2017, it was a yin meeting his yang. An energetic ball of kinetic energy, Harry forced the usual chill and sleepy Troy out of his comfort zone and into the weird world of Orlando... and it was mostly great. Everyone needs that one person that pushes them to be better, and Harry has always been that person. Despite living states apart, Harry and Troy talk frequently -- normally about photography, comics, or the current demise of western democracy -- via text and phone calls, because their love for one another cannot be stopped by distance. Troy's Favorite Memory: Going to watch and enjoy a performance by the Orlando Ballet dressed to the nines, and then following that up by going to the dive-iest nerd dive bar still dressed in suits -- we could not have stuck out more if we tried.
Bridesmaid
Taylor and Kasey met freshman year of high school, but didn't become friends until the next year when they were invited by a mutual friend to hang around an empty playground after hours (as one does). Since then, they have remained friends for 13 years, spanning 4 advanced degrees, several apartments, 5 cats, and 1 plague. Though Kasey still lives in Mt. Airy and Taylor has since moved to Greensboro, whenever they manage to get together, it's like no time has passed at all! Taylor's Favorite Memory: Science Olympiad competitions, specifically the year none of us had any idea what we were doing, but we won anyway. Write It, Do It partners for life!
Groomsman
Troy has known Logan quite literally his entire life... seriously, they grew up right next door to one another. And despite being several years older than Logan, the two cousins have been incredibly close with a shared love (and annoyance) of State athletics. If there is a State game going on, you can bet Logan and Troy are angrily texting one another about why nothing good can happen for the Pack (with this year being the rare exception!). Troy's Favorite Memory: There are plenty -- especially the numerous tailgating/football days in Raleigh -- but the new top moment came this year when the two attended the Final Four celebrations for the State men's and women's basketball teams by the Bell Tower.
Bridesmaid
Margaret was the first person Taylor met at Salem College, during Scholarship Weekend! Taylor then spent that whole summer mistakenly thinking Margaret was her roommate when it was actually Mary (see below). But they ended up reconnecting anyway, and now a friendship built on Taylor Swift music, bad TV shows, and geeky hot takes has gone on for 10 years. I've had the time of my life fighting dragons with you! Taylor's Favorite Memory: The second week of freshman year, sitting on the dorm floor watching BBC "Sherlock" and eating mochi. I missed the only silent disco we ever had for that, and I still don't regret it
Groomsman
When Troy got to Greensboro in 2021, he knew absolutely nobody. Then, like magic, a group of the most incredible friends came out of the sky -- Justin is one of those people. A guy who may be the nicest person on Planet Earth, Justin is a person who would give you the proverbial shirt off his back and then buy you a pizza. Troy and Justin share a love of sports (even if Justin has bad taste in college ball, boooo Carolina), politics and have become the ultimate movie watching homies. Troy's Favorite Memory: It may seem like a small thing, but Troy's favorite memories involve going to see movies, regardless of how good or bad they are -- the two have developed an appreciation for intentionally going to see bad movies (looking at you Madame Web).
Bridesmaid
Taylor and Mary were assigned as roommates their freshman year at Salem College. They then proceeded to become such good friends that they STAYED roommates all three years Taylor was there, and were known only as "Mary&Taylor" by several people on campus for a very long time. Despite almost never directly communicating by phone, Taylor and Mary have remained as close as sisters for years, and Mary is one of Taylor's favorite people in the entire world (even if they unironically like the "Cats" musical). Taylor's Favorite Memory: Staying up until 4 in the morning rewriting the BBC Sherlock finale because it was just that bad and we were both so mad about it
Groomsman
Brad is one of those awesome people that just magically appeared when Troy arrived to Greensboro in 2021. Brad and Troy are two peas in a pod in a lot of ways, including having a love for music, sports (though, once again, Brad has bad taste in college sports... how am I surrounded by so many Carolina people?), and wanting to be in bed before 10 pm. He's a guy who is always there when you need him, and he comes with great benefits (including his awesome wife Alyssa, and his cat, our Lord and Savior Jeffus Christ). Troy's Favorite Memory: Brad and Troy went on a hot man-date to the monster truck rally, where they got to be way too excited about large, high-powered trucks doing flips. It was the thing dreams are made of.
Bridesmaid
Taylor and Nicole met at Salem, but didn't become friends for years because Taylor thought Nicole was simply Too Cool to be approached. Taylor has since learned that behind Nicole's very cool exterior is a raging nerd who has read all of "Les Miserables" twice and who regularly watches YouTube videos about video games. Now, they regularly share their love of weird home decor, Gothic literature, obscure musical theatre, and monster folklore over homemade drinks that taste like soap. Percy Shelley wishes he was us. Taylor's Favorite Memory: Dressing up as extras from "The Great Comet of 1812" to watch a bootleg of it alone in Nicole's house because it was 2020 and there was no live theatre
Groomsman
Troy met a lot of cool people during his time in grad school at Alabama (Roll Tideee), but Liam -- aka "Lerm," who will henceforth be referred to as such, because saying his actual name never happens in our friend group -- was one of the coolest. A New Yorker with a love for sports, guns, food, and photography, ol Lerm and Troy met in the photo program at Bama a decade ago and have maintained a close friendship despite being states apart. Lerm is the perfect person to represent Troy's Alabama friend group. Troy's Favorite Memory: While hitting up Alabama football was always an incredible time, Troy's favorite memory would probably be the one Thanksgiving that he, Lerm, Gerry (real name Andrew, but again, we do nicknames here) spent together -- eating a smorgasbord of fast food options and just hanging out.
