(Preface. It's October 2021. COVID was still a thing) Rommel's brother was playing college football for Robert Morris University, and they happened to be playing at NC A&T. There was no way Rommel was missing that, so he talked his brother into giving him 2 free tickets. We found street parking near campus and gave each other a hug when we met. We were walking and talking trying to figure out how to get to the stadium. When we finally arrived, the security at the gate were asking for our COVID cards. Wellllll..... Rommel had his, but SOMEBODY didn't have hers. Luckily, they would let us in as long as she had a picture of her vaccine card. Taylor had to call up her roommate/bestie to go to her room and take a picture of her card that was on her desk. We were able to get in and enjoy the game. We took pictures with Rommel's brother and were deciding what to do next. We were enjoying each other's company and decided to go back to visit Taylor's apartment. Rommel was coaching high school football at the time and had to do some work for that, but in the meantime, we decided to watch Harry Potter (Taylor's favorite series). We had a good night and Rommel headed home. 9/10. Would recommend.
Finding the right words can always be difficult, especially when you're trying to express how you feel to someone. We knew early on that our love was real, but also couldn't find the right words to say. We realized how much we meant to each other but didn't know if it was too soon to say that we loved each other. At the time there was a popular reel sound that said "I like you, have a cupcake." From there, our initial form of saying "I love you" was born. We knew we liked each other more than just one cupcake, so we always gave each other two, and thus was born, "2 cupcakes." It quickly became our way of ending phone calls, a way to say we missed each other, or a quick set of emojis sent to each other. Our love has definitely grown since then, and continues to grow each and every day, but cupcakes is where it all began.
Rommel, Taylor, and Rommel's mom and grandma all decided to head to Dominican Republic for Rommel's great-grandma's 90th birthday. We arrive and it's raining a bit, but we still needed to eat. We head to a restaurant right on the water called Boca Marina. We change our travel clothes and order food. Rommel had the genius idea to give his mom and grandma cards & gifts (which he told Taylor about), and he got Taylor a card & gift (which he told his mom about). Everyone is opening gifts and on the verge of tears. Next thing anyone knows, Rommel is on a knee with the ring that no one knew about. And that's how our vacation started.
