Travel Note
1800s: Originally a stagecoach stop and trading post, Twenty Mile House got its name from being 20 miles between Beckworth and Quincy. It became a key stop on the Reno-Quincy route, offering travelers rest, supplies, and a place to refresh their horses. The Langhorst Brothers expanded it into a general store, post office, and hotel, ensuring no traveler was ever turned away. 1900s: The arrival of the Western Pacific Railroad in 1909 brought more visitors—and even outlaws. In 1912, the post office was robbed at gunpoint for $200 (about $5,000 today). By the 1940s, Robert Gage and his family frequented the property, and in 1976, Rob and Barbara Gage purchased the 200-acre estate as a summer retreat. 1991-Today: In 1991, Barbara turned it into a bed-and-breakfast, and in 2009, her son Kevin and his wife Karen transformed it into the beloved wedding venue it is today.
Travel Note
People coming from California should drive, carpooling recommended. There is parking onsite for those of you staying at the Twenty Mile House.
Flight
For people traveling from outside of California, we recommend flying into the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. This is the closest airport to Twenty Mile House. It is 67 miles away and approximately a 75 minute drive. The Reno-Tahoe airport hosts 9 rental car companies and booking early is recommended. The Sacramento airport is an alternative option, but a significantly longer drive (~2:45).
Hotel
This resort features private studio and two-bedroom cabins with stunning views of pine-covered meadows and mountains. Onsite you'll find a full-service restaurant, bar, and golf course. It’s located just 15 miles from the venue (approximately a 20-minute drive) and about 1 hour 15 minutes from the Reno-Tahoe airport. We have a block of cabins reserved for our wedding guests. To book, please call Whitehawk directly and mention the Wolf/Jones wedding — these cabins are not available to book online. If calling during the off-season, leave a voicemail and they’ll typically return your call within one business day. The block will be held until April 1, 2026, so we recommend booking early to secure your spot!
