This isn’t just a cool science museum, it’s our place. Daniel and Taylor had their very first official date here, wandering through the exhibits, marveling at the aquarium, and pretending they were experts in everything from space to sea life (spoiler: they're not). Fast forward six years, and Daniel brought Taylor back to the Rainforest Habitat—the exact spot where they shared some of their earliest memories—and proposed. It was the perfect full-circle moment, and now it’s a must-visit for anyone who wants to experience a little piece of their love story. (Bonus Points if you get a picture in the Rainforest) Plus, it’s just a genuinely awesome spot to spend the day, think aquarium meets planetarium meets natural history museum. Testarossa Winery
If guests are in the mood for a little vino (or just want an excuse to sit back and enjoy some scenic views), Testarossa Winery is the spot. It’s charming, cozy, and the kind of place where the wine is good enough to turn anyone into a part-time wine snob. Taylor and Daniel love spending an afternoon here, relaxing with a glass, wandering the grounds, and decompressing after a day of exploring. The winery dates back to 1888, so it’s got history, character, and plenty of atmosphere. Perfect for a romantic outing, a chill afternoon with friends, or anyone who wants to leave with “just one more” bottle
Castle Rock State Park
If you’re craving a little adventure (or just need an excuse to justify packing hiking boots), Castle Rock State Park is your place. Think jaw-dropping views of the Santa Cruz Mountains, winding trails, dramatic rock formations, and more “wow, nature’s kind of showing off” moments than you can count. Daniel and Taylor love getting outdoors, and this park is one of their go-to escapes for fresh air, gorgeous scenery, and elite-level photo ops. Whether you’re in the mood for a full hike or just want to picnic with a view, Castle Rock delivers. And the sunsets? Absolute chef’s kiss.
Oakland Zoo
The Oakland Zoo isn’t just home to some of the coolest animals around, it also happens to be the backdrop for one of Taylor and Daniel’s most unexpected date moments. On their first visit, they were fully prepared for a day of cute animals, scenic views, and at least one overpriced snack… until high winds kicked up and they got evacuated. Nothing says “romantic outing” like being politely escorted out mid–giraffe viewing. Drama aside, the zoo really is a great spot for families, animal lovers, and anyone who loves a good sky ride with a Bay view. And with any luck, your visit will involve fewer weather-related plot twists than theirs did.
Mission Peak Trail Head
If guests are feeling adventurous (or just want solid bragging rights), Mission Peak is the hike to take on. The summit shows off sweeping views of the entire Bay Area and absolutely earns its reputation as a rite of passage for anyone who loves a challenge. Daniel has conquered this trail more times than anyone’s bothered to count, he charges up like he’s respawning at the top. Taylor… has not quite completed it yet. There are photos, there are attempts, there are vibes. Whether she ever finishes it remains undetermined. But even if you don’t go all the way up, the lower trails offer great scenery, plenty of photo ops, and the perfect excuse to reward yourself with a post-hike snack. Bring water, sunscreen, and realism, those hills are no joke.
Monterey Bay Aquarium
If guests are in the mood for something unforgettable beyond the Bay Area, the Monterey Bay Aquarium is a guaranteed hit. It’s genuinely one of the best aquariums in the world (Google backs this up), with mesmerizing exhibits, interactive touch pools, and enough sea life to make anyone briefly consider a career pivot to marine biology. Taylor and Daniel have a soft spot for this place, it hits the sweet spot between fun, fascinating, and “wait, how are otters this cute?” The giant kelp forest and the otters are standout stars, and catching a feeding session is weirdly intense in the best way. Afterward, a walk down Cannery Row is perfect for shopping, snacks, or soaking in the ocean views. Great for families, couples, or anyone ready to embrace their inner sea nerd. Zero judgment.
Los Gatos Meats & Smoke House
If guests are craving something seriously good, Los Gatos Meats is the hidden gem to hit. Famous for their killer sandwiches, mouthwatering BBQ, and house-made jerky, it became one of Taylor and Daniel’s favorite spots pretty much immediately. Fun fact: on Taylor’s first visit, she told Daniel that if he ever planned to propose, he’d need to show up with a Rollie Tri-Tip Sandwich. Consider it a very specific love language.
Topgolf
If guests are craving a little friendly competition (or just want an excuse to eat good food while pretending to be athletic), Topgolf is the place to go. Think bowling, but with golf clubs, neon lights, and absolutely zero need for real golf skills. Daniel is great at bowling, but apparently that talent doesn’t translate to golf in the slightest. Taylor’s approach is… uniquely her own, usually involving several impressive misses before making actual contact with the ball. Whether you’re a pro, a beginner, or just there to laugh at yourselves, Topgolf is always a good time. Plus, the food, drinks, and hangout space are solid even if your golf game isn’t.
