The Wedding Website of Tassilo Stolba and Andrea Estrada
Nicaragua is full of stunning landscapes - whether you want to explore colonial towns, chill on the beach, or hike a volcano, there's something here for everyone. Here's a guide to some of the most beautiful regions and what you can do in each:

Granada

Colonial charm

Our wedding destination—and a perfect base for exploring! Granada is a charming, colorful colonial city on the shores of Lake Nicaragua. It’s small, walkable, and full of cafés, churches, and lovely architecture. - Cathedral & Historic Churches: Especially around the Parque Central. - Mombacho Volcano: Hike the cloud forest trails or try a zipline tour. - Isletas de Granada: Take a boat tour through this beautiful archipelago of tiny islands formed by volcanic activity. Many day tours available around town to Isletas de Granada, Masaya Volcano or Mombacho Volcano.

Masaya

Volcano

A short trip from Granada, Masaya is famous for volcanoes, local crafts, and beautiful viewpoints. - Masaya Artisan Market – Great for handmade souvenirs, hammocks, ceramics, and local goods. - Catarina Viewpoint: A quiet village with stunning views over Apoyo Lagoon. - Apoyo Lagoon: Relax, swim, paddle, or rent a kayak in this warm crater lake. - Masaya Volcano: See lava glowing inside the active crater! It’s best visited at sunset for the full effect.

Ometepe Island

Twin volcano island

An island made of two volcanoes in Lake Nicaragua—wild, serene, and stunning. This is best as a 2-day (or more) trip to truly experience it. - Hike Volcán Concepción (challenging) or Volcán Maderas (more moderate) - Swim at Ojo de Agua, a beautiful natural spring - Explore the island by scooter or motorbike and visit hidden beaches and local villages

Popoyo

Quiet surf beach

A peaceful and beautiful beach area with golden sands, great surf, and few crowds. Ideal if you're looking for a quiet, nature-filled getaway. - Surfing, tide pools, and long beach walks - Yoga retreats and ocean-view bungalows - Great sunsets and relaxed beach cafés

San Juan del Sur

Famous surf town

Nicaragua’s most famous surf town, known for its lively vibe, golden beaches, and beautiful bay. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a mix of beach life, nightlife, and activities. - Surf beaches nearby like Playa Hermosa and Playa Maderas - Daily shuttles to surf spots and beach hopping tours - Catamaran cruises, sunset sails, and ziplining in the hills

León

Historic city

A lively, youthful city filled with history and surrounded by natural wonders. Day tours are available from León to volcanoes, beaches, and rural areas. - León Cathedral: Climb the white rooftop for incredible views. - Beaches: Like Las Peñitas and Poneloya, just a short ride away. - Volcano Boarding at Cerro Negro: A must-try adrenaline activity. - Flor de Caña Rum Tour: Just outside León, tour Nicaragua’s most famous rum distillery and enjoy tastings.

Corn Islands

Caribbean paradise

The Corn Islands offer turquoise waters, palm trees, and a totally different vibe from mainland Nicaragua. It is best reached by flight from Managua (with La Costeña airline). - Big Corn Island: Easier to access, great seafood and diving - Little Corn Island: No cars, chill island vibes, snorkeling and pure relaxation

Matagalpa & Selva Negra

Coffee farms & forest

A scenic, cooler mountain region in northern Nicaragua with lush forests and coffee farms. - Selva Negra: A German-founded eco-lodge and farm offering coffee tours, hiking trails, and a taste of Nicaraguan-German heritage - Great hiking in the surrounding cloud forest - Perfect if you want to see a different side of Nicaragua’s nature
