Our wedding will take place in beautiful Granada, Nicaragua on January 10, 2026, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you! There are two main ways to get to Nicaragua: - Fly directly to Managua (MGA) – the capital and main international airport of Nicaragua - Fly into Costa Rica – either San José (SJO) or Liberia (LIR) – and then travel overland to Nicaragua by private shuttle, rental car, or bus We recommend booking your flights as early as possible, especially from Europe, as prices tend to increase significantly closer to the date. Flight
If you're flying in from Europe, most flight routes to Nicaragua, Managua (MGA) will include a stopover or two. Some common connections are: Germany → USA (Houston or Miami) → Managua (recommended) Germany → Mexico City → Managua Germany → Amsterdam → Panama City → Managua Spain → El Salvador / USA → Managua From the United States, the main airlines offering direct flights to Managua are: United Airlines via Houston American Airlines via Miami Avianca via Miami We recommend checking connections and visa requirements based on your passport and transit countries. Costa Rica has two international airports that can be great alternatives for reaching Granada, Nicaragua. San José Airport (SJO) – the capital San José offers many direct and often more affordable flights from Europe. From there, you have several options to reach Nicaragua: - Private shuttle: Ideal for comfort, especially if you're traveling with others—grouping up can lower the cost. Let us know if you're interested, and we’re happy to help coordinate! - Car rental: You can drive yourself across the border (approx. 7 hours to Granada). - Bus: Comfortable long-distance buses operated by TicaBus TransNica You can go directly to Granada or make a stop in Rivas if you want to explore a bit before. Liberia Airport (LIR) Located about 2 hours from the Nicaraguan border and closer to Nicaragua’s Pacific beaches, Liberia is a convenient option with many flight connections, especially from North America and Europe via holiday carriers.
