We met online via Hinge in January 2024, where all we knew about each other was six pictures and three short answers to questions. We quickly bonded over our mutual love of God, hospitality, and willingness to try new activities and adventures!
Andrew planned the perfect first date in Dana Point for coffee (Andrew) and a chai latte (Corinne) at JC Beans followed by a sunset walk along the cliffs where we shared our testimonies. Since it was MLK weekend, Corinne's friends decided to go down to Encinitas for a Monday trip, which created the perfect opportunity for a second date. That night we had fun getting to know each other more - including Corinne seeing Andrew's love of impersonations. Next weekend, Corinne was coming down to San Diego for work and he took her to the "secret swings" in La Jolla. Here Andrew played guitar and together they sang worship songs. This later became the spot they went back to after Andrew proposed on July 4th, 2024!
We quickly fell into a routine visiting each other once mid-week and then spending most of the weekends together. Our time often includes making dinner together, something fun with friends like a game night, a beach walk, Young Adults Ministry, a meal with Corinne's family, church, post-church friends lunch, and something active like rock climbing or batting cages.
We visited all his favorite childhood places from the Cottage by the Sea in Carmel to his little league and high school football fields. Rounded out with family game nights and staying up way later than everyone else to beat each other at paper frog jumping - a spin-off from his "Sutter Elementary Frog Jump". Yet, as we finished out a hike in the Saratoga Gap before our 6 hour drive home, we were met with the reminder that life has a few more challenges that you need to prepare for. In the excitement of it all, Andrew rolled his ankle twice causing a sprain. It quickly encapsulated our relationship - getting to do life rejoicing in God's creation together and building one another up, even if that means becoming an actual crutch for each other.
