This local organization maintains great walking trails across all the towns in the Penninsula. Summitting Blue Hill mountain is a must!
There is not a multitude of options, but here are some of our favorites: Tinder hearth (pizza and baked goods), El El Frijoles (get the crab quesadilla), Bagaduce Lunch (amazing fried seafood), Blue Hill Co-op, Roaring Lion Farm (great breakfast sandwiches), and the Bucksport Dairyport.
These island communities are accessible by bridge from the Peninsula. They are filled with artists and lobsterman. Some favorite spots include: Nervous Nellie’s Jams and Jellies, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and the art galleries in Stonington Village.
This is a hidden gem of Acadia. Access a mail boat ferry from Stonington and then hike or bike around the island!
It's a pretty special place, but will probably be a madhouse this weekend. We highly recommend visiting Schoodic point. It's a part of the park on the mainland where Tara's aunt donnalee works!
There are no record stores in the area, but there are some great thrift shops: Bargain Barn & Orland Treasures in Orland. Turnstyle & Ark thrift shop in Blue Hill. Some non-thrift store that are worth a visit: Reny’s & Marden’s in Ellsworth. Big Chicken Barn antiques in Orland.
A cool town on the western side of Penobscot Bay. There are many great restaurants and shops.
If you want a chance to see some pretty neat birds up close, visit this historic organization. You can see owls and hawks! There are also hiking trails for a chance to see some others birds in the wild.
