For all our active duty and veterans from out of state
Not the exact location we had our first date due to it closing...but a go to for all you can eat sushi if that's your thing!
We LOVE BBQ. So if you want to enjoy a beer, football, or just want to see what the hype is about, we highly recommend our go to Sunday meal after kickball. That's only if you don't mind having it twice during your time here ;)
Wherever you stay at in Jacksonville, you are bound to find Hoptinger somewhere. We recommend the one in 5 Points with their downstairs and rooftop seating. Downstairs, you can enjoy a full meal and a large list of brews. Or if you'd prefer something light, or to see the view of 5 Points, the rooftop has it's own selection of specialty drinks and bar food.
Our chill and laid back bar we love going to. They have casino games, chess, darts, pool tables, a beautiful outdoor patio (with a tv), and plenty of tv's inside to watch your favorite games. Keep in mind, it is only a beer and seltzer bar.
If you are looking for a Saturday activity before the wedding in the afternoon, check out the Riverside Arts Market. This market is filled with Jacksonville's local craft makers and bakers filled with delicious food and drink. If you would rather walk along the river, or listen to live music, there are opportunities for this as well!
We went here on our first date. Needless to say, we had a blast!
The oldest town in the state of Florida is an attraction you do not want to miss. It is a bit of a hike with an hour drive, but it is somewhere that we personally love going to when we want to leave the city. We recommend checking out the Castillo de San Marcos, you are able to watch them reenact firing a cannon into the river. You may even get lucky and see turtles coming up along the wall to say hello! Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.
For those Disney lovers, Disney World is located 2.5 hours from Jacksonville. It has something for everyone regardless of which park you choose to go to. This was where we got engaged, so of course we love Epcot the most!
If a full Disney trip is not what you are wanting to do, but you'd like to get some merchandise and still feel the magic, Disney Springs is for you!
