Question

What should I know about Newport, RI?

Answer

Newport is an amazing ocean town that doesn't lack things to do. Thames Street is the main street that boasts a number of restaurants, bars, and shops. A few items to note: 1) Being a smaller town but a popular destination, Ubers and Lyfts can be hard to come by. Be prepared for a potential wait. 2) Similarly, parking can be difficult. There are a number of parking lots just off of Thames Street but they fill up quickly. Be patient, you will find a spot! 3) There are an abundance of restaurants around, but they fill up quick on the weekend. If there is a spot you are interested in trying, we highly recommend making dinner reservations the week before you head into town to ensure there is availability. 4) The weekend of our wedding coincides with the Newport International Boat Show. This is an extremely busy weekend so ride shares, parking, restaurants, will all be be at high demand - so plan accordingly. That said, we will all get to see amazing boats throughout the weekend!

Question

What hotel should I stay at?

Answer

We have updated our hotel block information! We have a hotel block at the following places: Howard Johnson Inn and Quality Inn & Suites. With the increased traffic due to the boat show, hotel blocks are limited. Please note, any rooms not reserved 4-6 weeks prior to the wedding will be released back to the public (and you will no longer have access to the discounted rates). Transportation will be provided to/from both Howard Johnson and Quality Inn, in addition to a centralized location near Thames Street (more information to come). We highly recommend reserving a place to stay sooner rather than later! Please see the Travel Tab for additional details.

Question

Is transportation provided to and from the wedding?

Answer

Yes, transportation will be provided to and from Howard Johnson Inn, The Quality Inn & Suites, and a centralized location near Thames Street (exact location TBD). Even if you are not staying at one of the hotel blocks, you are more than welcome to utilize the transportation. We will release more information on transportation closer to our wedding date.

Question

What is going on Thursday night?

Answer

Thursday night we will have our rehearsal dinner which is limited to the wedding party and immediate family. After the conclusion of our rehearsal dinner, we welcome all family and friends that our in town to come and get the weekend started. Our welcome party will be from 9:00-11:00pm at the Regatta Place located on Goat Island. Light apps will be provided. If you are in town Thursday we would love for you to join us! Please see the Schedule Tab for details.

Question

Where is Goat Island?

Answer

Goat Island is a small island in Narragansett Bay and is part of the city of Newport. It is just under 1 mile from Regatta Place to downtown Thames Street. You can access Goat Island via car, boat, or foot. There is some parking on the island and an additional garage just before the foot bridge. The foot bridge is easily accessible from downtown. And lastly, there is a public ferry that can transport you to/from Thames street to Goat Island. Believe it or not, it is much closer than is seems!

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The Welcome Party is more of an informal event for our guests to come and go as they please. The dress code is casual - wear what you are most comfortable in. Please note it is primarily outdoors on the Marina, so there might be a breeze. The wedding ceremony and cocktail hour is scheduled to be outdoors as well (weather pending) followed by an indoor reception. We request cocktail attire for the wedding day.

Question

Are kids allowed at the wedding?

Answer

As much as we love little ones, we thought you might like a night off. We respectfully request no children under 16 at the reception.

Question

Does the International Boat Show impact your wedding weekend?

Answer

Although we were not aware of our wedding date coinciding with the International Boat Show, it should make for an unforgettable weekend. It will have no impact on the wedding events. The biggest factor to consider is the increased traffic this event will bring to town. That means that hotels, restaurants, and tours/events will fill up quickly and we highly recommend being proactive with reservations. In addition, parking will be limited and uber/ride shares will be in high demand so please plan accordingly.
