The event will take place at a beach house on the west end of Folly Beach. The address is 917 West Ashley Avenue, Folly Beach, SC 29439.
Free parking is available in parallel spots along West Ashley Avenue. These spots are not marked or painted (typically grassy or gravel areas in front of houses). Parking attendants often monitor the area, so be sure to adhere to all of the parking rules (primarily, ensure that all tires are off the road and that you are parked in the direction of traffic). Paid parking is available in a gravel lot one house past the event location (between 919 and 1001 West Ashley Avenue). Please do not park in the driveway of the house.
We will be available throughout the day on Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, and would love to see you as much as possible! Plan for a laid-back weekend full of celebration, relaxation, and friendship. The main event will take place on Saturday, April 27. Guests should plan to arrive at 9:30 am for our intimate backyard reception. Brunch will begin at 10 am, and then we will "garden party" until about 1 pm. At this time, the formal event will end and we will transition into a beach day! In the event of rain, we will hang out in the house and play games. On Sunday, April 28, we will close out the weekend with a restorative yoga session and beach walk. Feel free to hang out for as little or as long as you’d like (though we’d love to see you all weekend!).
For the formal part of the event, dress in garden/beach wedding attire - think sundresses, jumpsuits, collared shirts, dress pants, fun patterns, and seersucker. Bring a change of clothes (shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, bathing suits) and any beach accessories you may need (towels, chairs, etc.) for the afternoon. Individual chairs and umbrellas can be rented from Folly Beach Chair Company (be sure to touch base on the expected delivery times).
Weather dependent (*knock on wood*), we will be outdoors for the event. In the event of rain, we will relocate to a covered area. We will provide sunscreen and bug spray, but dress accordingly if you are susceptible to sunburn.
We will serve traditional brunch foods during the garden party reception - think waffles, french toast, finger sandwiches, and mimosas. Please let us know your dietary preferences or allergies upon RSVP. After the formal event concludes, we will provide light beach snacks. Guests are responsible for their meals after brunch and should plan to BYOB for the beach party.
Sustainability is incredibly important to us, so we sent you an invitation that gives back to the earth. The invitation is "plantable" seed paper and the envelope is recyclable (minus the wax seal). To grow wildflowers from your invitation, soak the paper in water overnight, then plant under a thin layer of loose soil. Water daily and keep moist until seedlings are well established.
It is important to us that this celebration be as low waste as possible. We will have separate bins for recycling, compost, used tableware, and trash. If you have any questions about what goes where we'd be happy to help! For other types of waste...aka bathroom waste. The owner of the house has requested that event guests use a port-o-jon (which will be installed the day prior to the event), so as not to back up the septic tank into the yard.
Average highs in April at Folly are in the mid-70s, and average lows are in the low-60s. You may want to bring a light jacket if you tend to get chilly.
We would love for you to take pictures and share them with us! We plan to provide disposable cameras and access to Kimberly’s DSLR for you to capture all of your best and favorite moments.
