It’s crazy to think about how much we have in common, but it wasn’t until after college we finally started talking. We both grew up in Wilmore/Nicholasville, Kentucky. We both graduated from UK Engineering. We had countless mutual friends. And oddly enough, we both briefly lived in Washington State as children. Somehow, we never crossed paths… We technically were first introduced by a mutual family friend, Nancy. She has knows both of our families since elementary school. Stephen kind of remembered us meeting, but I did not. We have since talked about being at the same events or gatherings in college… still never connected. So, what was it that actually got us talking? — TINDER! Who would have guessed we will soon become a successful Tinder couple?! And it makes for a great wedding hashtag… #SwipeWright Once we finally began talking, it felt so natural. Typical ice breaker questions were already broken when we realized we grew up in the same town, went to the same college, and have the same friends. We wholeheartedly believe God was waiting to connect us at the right time. Our first date was at the Newport Aquarium in Cincinnati, Ohio on the day after Thanksgiving. The day was perfect and ended with seeing Christmas lights at the Creation Museum. We officially became boyfriend and girlfriend on December 20, 2019. Soon after, we began long distance dating for three school semesters while Stephen was at the University of Michigan. The most significant part of our relationship, so far, was getting engaged this year on Valentine’s Day. Stephen came home to be with me for the weekend, but I had no idea he would be proposing!
We are both currently living in Kentucky with our families until the wedding. Stephen graduated in May with a masters in aerospace engineering. He is currently working remotely for NASA Ames Research Center based out of Mountain View, California. I am working in Lexington, Kentucky for a civil engineering firm. Wedding planning has been keeping us busy, but we have been able to enjoy being with friends and family!
The next six months will be quite the change for us! We are beyond excited to get married! We will then be moving to the Bay Area in January! This is where Stephen’s job is located, and I will hopefully soon find a civil engineering position. Our friends and family here in Kentucky will be greatly missed, but we are excited for this new chapter of our lives.
