Things To Do

**Note that we will be continuing to add to this section so check back in a few months!** MDI is our favorite place in the world and we're so excited to share it with you! There is so much to do and see on the island and in Acadia - here are some of our favorites.
Long Pond + Nearby Trails

Long Pond + Nearby Trails

ME 04660

A beautiful spot for different activities! There are several trails that leave from Long Pond, as well as kayaks and canoes available for rent at National Park Canoe Rental (https://www.nationalparkcanoerental.com/).

Echo Lake + nearby trails

Echo Lake + nearby trails

Mount Desert, ME 04660

Another great spot for swimming or just hanging at the beach. There are some great trails that leave from the Echo Lake parking lot, including one of our favorites, Beech Cliff Ladder and Canada Loop (https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/maine/beech-cliff-ladder-and-canada-cliff-loop).

Beehive Trail

Beehive Trail

Bar Harbor, ME 04609

A favorite - but challenging! - hike in Bar Harbor. It's steep but offers incredible views (fog depending :)).

Thurston's Lobster Pound

Thurston's Lobster Pound

9 Thurston Road, Tremont, ME 04612

Our favorite lobster pound on the island. Aside from a whole lobster and lobster rolls, you can't go wrong with the lobster and/or crab melt - or the lobster claw bloody mary.

Peter Trout's Tavern and Inn

Peter Trout's Tavern and Inn

48 Shore Road, Southwest Harbor, ME 04679

Another favorite restaurant on the quiet side with great harbor views. Their fish sandwich is a highlight but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

The Salt Market

The Salt Market

141 Main Street, Mount Desert, ME 04662

The most charming coffee shop and cafe in Northeast Harbor. We recommend grabbing a coffee and checking out the shops on Main St. PS - they also have great pre-made food like salads and sandwiches. Great pre or post-hike fuel!

Islesford Dock Restaurant and Gallery

Islesford Dock Restaurant and Gallery

1 Main Street, Cranberry Isles, ME 04646

We highly recommend taking the ferry out to Great Cranberry and Little Cranberry Islands, and stopping at Islesford Dock Restaurant on Little Cranberry for brunch, lunch, or just an oyster snack. Be sure to check out the neighboring gallery and shops. You can see the ferry schedule here: https://downeastwindjammer.com/ferries/cranberry-cove/
