Prior to Nick and Sue's acquaintance, Nick was on a trip in Wisconsin. He was staying in Barneveld, WI. Always an early riser, Nick arose one morning with the desire to explore the surrounding area. He jumped in the car and meandered along the county roads in search of the essence of Wisconsin. As he drove through beautiful rural areas of farmland and hilly cow pastures, he was struck by a particular scene with a farmhouse and red barn that captured his imagination. He was so enamored with the setting that he pulled over and took a few photos. He then proceeded into a nearby town by the name of Spring Green to find a cup of coffee. Later, after Sue and Nick began "courting", Sue disclosed she was from Spring Green. Nick proudly mentioned he had been there before. They traveled there and visited her father.
