Grab your dancing shoes — we’re tying the knot!

Laura and Chris’s love story began roughly 8 years ago with a classic faux pas. They met at a bar in Old Town while Laura was visiting Chicago. There appeared to be an instant connection between the two before Chris made the colossal mistake of opening his mouth as he uttered the words: “I don’t really like dogs…” Given Laura has dedicated her life to dogs (and cats) as a veterinarian, those five words seemed to extinguish any romantic flame between them before anything truly began. Or so everyone thought… However, their paths would continue to cross over the years. Laura would still make regular trips to Chicago to visit one of her best friends, Jordanna, and when Jordanna got engaged to Chris’s brother, Nick, they started seeing even more of each other. The true turning point in their relationship was when Laura joined a group of Saracco friends and family on a trip to Las Vegas in October of 2022. While in Las Vegas, Laura would regale Chris with tales (and some pictures) from her work life, and Chris would entertain Laura with his dance skills at the club and very questionable golf skills at Topgolf. Despite distance being a clear potential issue (Chris called Chicago home while Laura was from Boca Raton, Florida), they decided to give romance a shot. Chris traveled down to South Florida in December 2022 to see if sparks would continue to fly on their first true date. They spent the weekend enjoying great food, drinks, and music in Miami, but even more importantly, they really enjoyed each other's company. At this point, it was clear that there was something special about their relationship. Laura wasted no time and put Chris to the test by introducing him to nearly her entire family at a New Year’s Eve party that year. Luckily, he passed with flying colors, and they would continue a long distance relationship for just under a year and a half, not only visiting each other at their homes but also meeting up at many places around the globe including but not limited to New York City, San Francisco, Ireland, Scotland, and England. In April 2024, Laura made the bold decision to join Chris in Chicago. They live in the same neighborhood where they first met (Old Town), and Chris has relaxed his original stance on dogs as one only needs to see the photo album on his iPhone to find it is littered with pictures of their dog, Cash. Finally, on April 1, 2025, while in Tokyo, Chris proposed to Laura in front of her ideal audience and in her ideal setting - with absolutely no one around in the dark and in the rain on a bridge before two rows of cherry blossoms.
