Both the ceremony & reception will be held inside, in Interlachen’s GORGEOUS ballroom!
Semi-formal/cocktail attire. Use this as an excuse to break out the fancy outfits - jumpsuits, cocktail dresses, suit & tie, sportscoat - just no jeans!
Please be at the venue by 4:50, as grandparents will start being seated at 5:00. Since guests enter through the same doors the bridal party will be using, if you arrive after 5:00, you will have to wait outside the ballroom until the processional is complete. Feel free to take a page out the father of the bride's book: “Five minutes early is on time; on time is late; late is unacceptable." :)
Absolutely! We want everyone to let loose and stay safe at the same time. Check out the "Travel" page for specific details on shuttle timing!
Vehicles may NOT be left overnight at Interlachen. Therefore, if you're planning on driving to the wedding but also indulging in some adult beverages, you will need to make sure you have a sober driver at the end of the night. We highly recommend utilizing Uber/Lyft (as they are plentiful in the cities) or the shuttle being provided (see the “Travel” page for more details).
If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes; if not, you’ll be flying solo, but we have the coolest friends & family, so you’ll definitely still have a blast :)
We'd love to see your little munchkins out there tearing up the dance floor! If the invite included their names or was addressed to "The Johnson Family," they're more than welcome to tag along; if not, this is your excuse for a parents' night out!
One of the dinner options will be vegetarian, as will one of the cocktail hour appetizers. Dessert will include gluten-free and dairy-free options. If you have other specific dietary restrictions, please reach out to the bride or groom as soon as you know you’ll be attending! Note that there will also be space to indicate any restrictions when RSVP'ing.
As much as we'd love to provide free drinks all night, we know how much some of our friends (and family for that matter!) can put back :) Select beer and wine will be hosted for a portion of the night, while everything else will be available for purchase!
Unfortunately, the bar does NOT take cards and will ONLY accept cash. As mentioned in the question above, select beer & wine will be hosted for a portion of the night, while everything else will be available for purchase. There is NOT an ATM onsite, so please make sure that you bring enough cash to keep yourself hydrated for the night :) We understand this is a slight inconvenience, but know everyone will take the right steps to ensure good times are had!
We are having an unplugged ceremony, so please silence all devices and keep them in your purses/pockets during that time. As mentioned elsewhere, we have hired amazing photographers & videographers, so please let them do their thing! You better believe Taylor will be sharing professional photos after the big day. Once the ceremony is over (this includes the recessional), snap as many pictures or post as many stories as you want! And make sure to tag us and use our hashtag (see below)!
We're millenials, so obviously! Use #StokedToBeOakes and #AndrewTaysTheKnot on your social media posts so that we can easily relive what's bound to be an awesome day!
You won't be mailing anything back to us - instead you'll use the "RSVP" page on our website. It's so much quicker, you can easily update your response if something changes, and let's be real - stamps add up! If you've never used a website to RSVP before, info on how to RSVP will be included with your invitation. RSVPs are due by Friday, August 20th. It takes literally less than one minute to do, so there are no excuses for late replies!
If plans change prior to the RSVP deadline (8/20), you can easily update your choices using the RSVP page. If your plans change AFTER the RSVP deadline, please let the bride or groom know as soon as possible! There are specific deadlines with some vendors, so accurate headcounts are important; however, we understand that plans change last minute sometimes.
Taylor & Andrew would highly recommend booking your travel as early as possible! September is the busiest wedding month in Minnesota (and that was before all the 2020 postponements), which means hotel rooms may go quickly. The good news is, if you reserve a room through Taylor & Andrew's hotel block at the Marriott, you aren't charged until you check out AND you can cancel up to 48 hours before with no charge; so there's really no reason not to reserve your room now!
September is typically a great month weather wise in Minnesota! Average highs range from 65° to 75°, while the nightly lows average somewhere in the 50s. So pack your best fall layers & you'll be set!
Here are some key phrases you’ll want to learn so that you don’t stick out as a tourist: - no yeah = yes - yeah no = no - yeah no for sure = definitely Most importantly, if someone is in your way, instead of saying "excuse me," you'd say "ope - just gonna sneak right past ya"
You bet'cha! Check out the "Things to Do" page above for some of our favorite places in Minnesooooooota.
Taylor & Andrew are registered at Target, Crate & Barrel & Williams Sonoma; check out the "Registry" page of the website!
Yes! Taylor will be changing her last name to Oakes after the couple is married. P.S. The bride will be the first to admit that she googles this before addressing any wedding card, so she thought she'd save you a few seconds in case you’re like her: to make "Oakes" plural, it'd be "The Oakeses" (not the smoothest, but what can ya do?!)
Leading up to the big day, feel free to call, text, or email either the bride or groom using the info below. However, on the wedding day, please refrain from contacting the couple - they'll be just a tad busy :) - and instead, contact one of the very trustworthy & knowledgeable people listed below.
