Julie Hu grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and studied Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, where she also minored in Psychology and Social Behavior. After graduating, she returned to the Bay Area and later made a career pivot into tech, inspired by Steven. She now works as a software engineer at LinkedIn, where she spends her days building infrastructure, doing capacity planning, and generally being a cool boss lady at work. In her spare time, Julie enjoys cooking at home to save money, watching Korean dramas, playing pickleball with the 50+ crowd at Fremont Bay Club, scrolling through endless cat memes while wondering when they’ll finally get one, and showing her love through quick one-liners and sarcasm.

Steven grew up in Fremont in the San Francisco Bay Area. He studied Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine before earning his master’s degree at the University of Southern California. After a brief stint in Seattle working at Amazon, he joined Workday as a software engineer to move back to the Bay Area for Julie. There, he spends his days writing code and maintaining his reputation as a cool, laid-back, “just getting by” kind of worker. In his spare time, Steven enjoys trying new food spots around the Bay Area, playing pickleball at Bay Club with the competitive crowd (the kind who actually play in tournaments), and hitting the golf course whenever he can. While he claims to be laid back about most things, he tends to obsess over whatever new hobby happens to capture his attention. Steven also wonders whether they’ll get a cat in the household. He thinks it would be a great addition, though he does worry about how he’ll keep the house tidy enough to stop the cat from knocking over all the cups he tends to leave lying around.

Julie and Steven met in 2014 through the Circle K club at UC Irvine. At the time, Julie was busy surviving organic chemistry for the first two quarters, but eventually started coming out to more club events. Steven noticed her, and the two began spending more time together. Before long, they started dating on July 8, 2015. (If you’re noticing a pattern… yes — 7 + 8 = 15 👀) After eight years together, Steven proposed in August 15, 2023 (8 + 15 = 23) — and now they’re excited to celebrate the next chapter of their story with all of you on July 3, 2026. (And if you squint, the 3 kind of looks like an 8 😉) P.S. In case it wasn’t obvious… Steven is a nerd and 8 is our favorite number.
