Flight
There are two great options for getting to Puerto Escondido. The first option is to book a flight to Mexico City and then a separate flight to Puerto Escondido. The flight from Mexico City to Puerto Escondido is usually around $150 roundtrip. Important tip: avoid searching for direct flights to Puerto Escondido on sites like Kayak, as they often show expensive and lengthy options. The second option is to fly with United Airlines, which offers a convenient route with a quick stop in Houston and lands directly in Puerto Escondido. The only catch is that the return flight only operates on Mondays. If you have some extra time, consider making this trip a mini-vacation by spending a few days in Mexico City. We did that on our last trip and loved it.
Travel Note
The town is just a 20 minute drive from the airport, and the easiest way to get there is by taxi. Taxis are readily available right outside the terminal, with fares typically ranging from 300 - 350 MXN ($15–$18 USD). You can also message the taxi company on WhatsApp at +52-954-131-4254 in advance to arrange a pickup at the airport. They’re also available for transportation around the city during your stay.
House Or Rental
Puerto Escondido is a charming surfer town that has managed to keep its laid-back, authentic vibe. You won’t find large hotel chains here, instead the area is filled with cozy boutique hotels, private homes, and Airbnbs, offering a range of options to fit your style and budget. We recommend staying around La Punta Zicatela, or anywhere close to the house where we are staying (Rancho Neptuno). These neighborhoods offer the perfect mix of beach views, great food options, and a relaxed atmosphere. Accommodation Options: - Airbnbs: You can find everything from private rooms to entire houses. This was our choice during our first visit, and it’s an affordable way to experience Puerto Escondido. - Larger Houses: If you’re coming with a group and prefer a larger house close to the venue, we recommend reaching out to Tripping Mexico - Ximena Lascurain. She can provide options near the venue, and you can explore available properties at www.trippingmexico.com. To connect directly, you can message her on WhatsApp at +52 55 3733 9958.
