Aleksa and Stephanie met on Hinge in June 2023… shout out to Hinge! At the time, both had grown a little tired of the dating scene, but were still open to the possibility of meeting the right person. Although Aleksa took his time getting to the first date, he finally asked Stephanie out the day before her birthday. Don’t worry... his thoughtful nature, charm, and dashing good looks made up for the last-minute planning. What started as a casual meet-up in Inglewood quickly turned into the two becoming inseparable. Oski met Aleksa on their second date and welcomed him with open paws as his new “daddy.” Very early on, Stephanie and Aleksa both knew they had found their person and their better half. From their first date onward, Aleksa and Stephanie travelled relentlessly. Together, they visited eight countries, along with many trips to Invermere and the West Coast of Canada. Through travel, they fell deeper and deeper in love. Stephanie fell in love with Aleksa’s trip-planning and navigation expertise, while Aleksa fell in love with Stephanie’s baking. When they weren’t travelling, the two spent their time exploring Calgary together- trying new restaurants and coffee shops, biking around the city, golfing, cooking dinners together, hiking and skiing in the mountains, yoga, Costco trips, walking Oski through their neighbourhood, and generally just being complete goofballs together. Along the way, Stephanie had the opportunity to meet Aleksa’s family in Serbia and Bosnia, while Aleksa got to spend time with Stephanie’s family in Victoria and Invermere. These moments made them feel even more connected to each other’s worlds and families. They decided to move in together after 10 months of dating, and fast forward to September 2025, they bought their dream home together. After two magical years of dating, Aleksa proposed in Hakone, Japan, on July 30, 2025. Standing along the shoreline of Lake Ashi, on a very tiny rock, might we add, Aleksa asked Stephanie to marry him. He never actually got down on one knee, so it took Stephanie a second to realize what was happening… but of course, she said yes! We already feel so lucky to have built such a happy life together, and we cannot wait to celebrate the beginning of the rest of our lives surrounded by all of the people we love most.
