Our BIGGEST recommendation ever is to book Dunn's River Falls... This is where you want to spend your shore excursion credit! It is by far one of the very coolest experiences we've ever done. This is where you get to climb the falls. You will have a guide in your tour helping navigate, and you can enjoy the climb up the fresh water.
If this is not your thing, another great local sight to Montego Bay is a beach called Doctor's Cave Beach. You can take a taxi here from the port. This is a public beach and I've also enjoyed my time here too. :)

Dunn's River Falls
*Water Shoes are needed for this - we brought some from home, but you can purchase some there as well but it's pricey - Walmart or Amazon is your best bet if you do not have water shoes. This is the excursion we cannot recommend enough as it is the ultimate adventure. This excursion can be purchased through Holland America online using your shore excursion credit. Go to manage my cruise: shore excursions, put in your booking # which will be found on an email from Tam with your documents, your name and our ship name: Nieuw Amsterdam. The shore excursion credit is automatic if you purchased the package, the price is $69.95 which will leave you extra money leftover for another excursion.
