One of many beautiful lighthouses along the Maine coast, the Head Light is worth a visit. Located in Fort Williams Park, this lighthouse is well worth a visit. As long as it isn't covered in scaffolding. Time your visit just right to see the lighthouse at sunset but make sure to get out of there before the park closes!
Ogunquit is a quaint little beach town about halfway between Boston and camp. The beach is tiny but there is a great cliff walk along the ocean and lots of cute shops. Some of the best lobster can be found in Ogunquit! We love Oarweed restaurant and Brix and Brine. Perkins Cove is a nice walk from the center of town and worth it for the views!
We love strawberry picking at Maxwell's! Just down the road from the Head Light and right in Cape Elizabeth. So easy and fun and a really lovely activity for all to enjoy. Fun fact: Dustin swiped right because of a picture of Stacy picking strawberries from here.
Full of cute shops, restaurants, and bars, Old Port is a must see area of Portland. Make sure to take some time to walk along Commercial Street while you're in the area. Some of our favorite restaurants are Flatbread Company, Nosh, and Duck Fat, but there are so many others to choose from. Portland has a great food scene with fabulous restaurants around every corner. Be sure to check out the Holy Donut or Gelato Fiasco for some dessert!
If there's one thing that truly represents summer in Maine, it's ice cream. Naples is home to a plethora of ice cream shops all with delicious Maine ice cream and beautiful spots to enjoy it. Our favorite is Causeway Dairy Bar. But the Mosquito, Raymond's Frozen Custard, and the Umbrella Factory (ice cream counter is in the back of the wine store-don't be deterred it's worth it) are all really good options as well! Stacy's favorite is strawberry with chocolate sprinkles while Dustin usually goes for whatever he's in the mood for. He likes to mix it up. He doesn't have a "go to".
