Scott and I met while working at Westlake Chemical in late 2018. We quickly became friends, often chatting even after he moved to Shreveport for a new job. In late 2019, our friendship blossomed into romance, and we started dating just before the world shut down in early 2020. During the quarantine, we maintained our connection with regular travels between Lake Charles and Shreveport. I will never forget how Scott cared for my precious Joule cat during the two hurricanes that forced me to evacuate from Lake Charles in 2020. In March 2021, I accepted a new job and moved to Mobile, AL. Scott soon followed, relocating to Daphne, AL, just 30 minutes away. This proximity allowed us to grow even closer. Since then, we’ve attended many friends’ weddings, spent holidays with each other’s families, and embarked on our own adventures. Scott has even convinced me to camp out for bourbon allocations, and in return, I get to choose our Friday night movies—chick flicks all the way! We’ve enjoyed exploring new places around Mobile and South Alabama, from beach trips to happy hours and game nights with friends. Then came the unforgettable moment when Scott surprised me by proposing during a business trip layover on November 16, 2024. My little sister and brother-in-law were in on the plan since I was visiting them and my new nephew, so they sneakily suggested we go to "get coffee" in Lafayette, IN a short drive from their home. Little did I know, Scott and two of my longtime friends had snuck into my brother-in-law's brewery there to set up for the surprise. As we made our way to coffee, I was told we needed to stop to feed baby Daniel at the brewery. Upon entering, there stood Scott waiting for me with flowers and balloons. I was genuinely shocked!! When he found the words to pop the question, I could hardly believe it. Afterward, my friends emerged from the basement for a second surprise, adding to the joy of the moment! It was an incredible day! I still am soo shocked he pulled it off without me suspecting. We took a few cutesy photos and enjoyed a quick brunch at Ripple & Co. before heading to my parents' house to celebrate.
