Mehendi & Sangeet (For out of town guests)

6:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Traditional Indian or Festive Cocktail Attire

In Indian weddings, the mehendi is an event wishing the bride good health and prosperity as she makes her journey onwards to marriage. During this event, the bride and guests get intricate patterns painted while music is played. The sangeet is where the party begins - translating to ‘sung together’ from Sanskrit, this ceremony is solely conducted to relish in the happiness and joy surrounding the couple. At this event, relatives and friends of the bride and groom choreograph dance numbers to perform for the couple.

Baraat

5:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Black Tie, Formal, or Traditional Indian Attire

The Baraat is the official start to the wedding ceremony. During this event, the groom arrives at the wedding by riding a horse in a procession, or baraat. The procession consists of the groom’s family and friends, all dancing around him. At the entrance to the wedding, the baraat is met by the bride’s family for the Milni, or meeting of the two families before everyone proceeds to the wedding ceremony.
