Anisha and Spencer met at Cornell University in 2009. They realized they had the same lunch break and would meet up to do New York Times crossword puzzles under Cornell's McGraw clocktower. Spencer graduated that spring and the two went their separate ways. Five years later, Anisha boldly decided to go on her first camping trip on her travels from New York back home to California; she selected Colorado as a logical destination and contacted Spencer, living in Denver, for advice. He replied "you've never camped---you cannot camp alone--you will die so, um ok, I'll go hiking in the Rockies with you." They had a great time even though someone got lost in the woods. They next reconnected at the Cornell Thanksgiving ice hockey game at Madison Square Garden. Despite living 2,000 miles away from each other, love grew as the couple took every opportunity they could to spend time with each other. When Spencer was offered a transfer to the East Coast for work in 2016, it seemed like they were destined to be together. Fittingly, Spencer surprised Anisha with an engagement ring at her 5th college reunion in the same place they used to do crossword puzzles together during college. Nothing could be better than her favorite man in her favorite place, so she had to say yes!
