As you are all aware, we had many changes in plans due to 2020 being the year it was. We were very fortunate to be married last year in a small, intimate wedding in Max's parents' backyard. We are so appreciative of everyone's support as this is obviously not what we had originally planned for. We are still looking forward to celebrating; however, this unfortunately will look different as well. We plan to take our wedding pictures in October 2021 with the remainder of the wedding party that was unable to join us on our wedding day. We will then be hosting an intimate dinner in our backyard. With the constantly changing restrictions, we are so disappointed that we cannot accommodate our original guest list, but we are so fortunate to have finally tied the knot and to have all of your love and support during the craziest first year of marriage.
Most people who know us know that we are hard-core Wolverines. Less people know that we grew up less than ten miles apart, with Erin living in the subdivision next to Max's grandparents. After being placed in the same tour group at Freshman Orientation at U of M, we walked from stop to stop as different group members were paired based on hometowns, shoe types, and shirt colors. We just so happened to be wearing their favorite shades of burgundy. The rest is history!
We love ice skating, so where better for Max to propose than New Year's Eve on the ice rink in Campus Martius, Detroit, right? Wrong. The weather forecast called for absolutely freezing temperatures. Considering the anticipated -20 degrees, plans needed to be changed. Rather than a romantic evening in Detroit, it was to be a romantic day date in Detroit (with warmer daytime temperatures). This day date turned out to be a bit of a disaster, as it was still totally freezing, and Max, busy setting up their apartment in Ann Arbor for the actual proposal, didn't help things by showing up twenty minutes late. Things came together, however, when Max and Erin arrived back to their apartment in Ann Arbor. Max had set up over 100 candles and practically made a carpet of rose petals, leaving Erin with only one thing to say - "Yes!"
