Please RSVP by July 1, 2026 so we can finalize everything and celebrate with you!
🌦️ Warm & humid with monsoon showers — August in Chennai is still warm, with daytime temperatures often around 32–35 °C (90–95 °F) and nights around 26–28 °C (78–82 °F). It’s part of the monsoon season, so you can expect intermittent rain or showers most days, especially in the evenings, but also plenty of sticky, humid sunshine. 🌞☔ The sea stays warm too — perfect for beach views but humid air can make it feel even hotter than the thermometer shows. What that means for visitors: • Pack light, breathable clothing and rain gear (umbrella/poncho). • Afternoon showers are common but often brief. • Early mornings and evenings are more pleasant for outdoor outings. • Humidity can make even warm temperatures feel “sticky,” so hydration and sunscreen are must-haves! ✨

We’ll be celebrating across three beautiful venues in Chennai: 🔔 Muhurtham & Reception – Indoors at Harsha Gardens, in a comfortable, air-conditioned hall. 🌼 Haldi & Mehendi – Outdoors at IP Gardens, with open-air garden vibes. 🎶 Sangeet – Indoors at Rukmani Ramjee, ready for a full dance floor takeover! Since it will be summer in Chennai — warm, humid, and possibly rainy — we recommend lightweight, breathable fabrics and comfortable footwear, especially for the outdoor events. We can’t wait to celebrate with you in every setting, from sunshine-filled mornings to sparkling dance nights! ✨
Yes — for the Muhurtham, we kindly ask guests to avoid wearing black or white. In South Indian traditions, these colors are typically not worn for auspicious ceremonies. For the other events, feel free to embrace vibrant colors, pastels, jewel tones, and festive prints! Indian weddings are all about color and celebration.
Shopping in Chennai: • T. Nagar (Pondy Bazaar & around): A go-to area for sarees, lehengas, and wedding shopping with lots of variety and price points. • Sowcarpet & Mint Street: Great for bridal lehengas and festive pieces, including some budget-friendly options. • If you’re interested in authentic Kanchipuram silk sarees, many people also travel to Kanchipuram itself. Visiting Phoenix Mall is a great option to visit a variety of stores! If you won’t have time to shop in India, there are great online options that ship internationally: Indya – Modern, lightweight Indo-western styles (great for Mehendi & Sangeet!) Laakshara – Elegant, budget-friendly sarees and festive sets Deepo Designers – Designer Indian outfits Aza Fashions – High-end and contemporary styles Kalki Fashion – Bridal and guest lehengas ✨ We recommend ordering early to allow time for alterations, as sizing can vary. Most Indian outfits are designed to be tailored for the perfect fit.
Yes! We know not everyone will be able to travel to Chennai, so we’ll be live streaming our Muhurtham ceremony for friends and family who want to celebrate from afar. We’ll share the streaming link and details closer to the wedding date.
Yes! Delicious meals will be served throughout all of our wedding events. In keeping with tradition, all food served during our wedding celebrations will be vegetarian, featuring a beautiful spread of authentic South Indian dishes and festive favorites — come hungry! Please note that no alcohol will be served or permitted at any of the events. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, please let us know when you RSVP so we can do our best to accommodate you.
We love that you’ll want to capture memories! Guests are welcome to take photos on their phones and cameras during most of the celebrations. However, during the Muhurtham ceremony, we kindly ask that you be mindful and avoid stepping into the aisles or blocking the professional photographers and videographers. There may be a few sacred moments where we request a more unplugged atmosphere so everyone can stay present. We promise to share all the beautiful professional photos with you afterward! 💛✨
Yes, absolutely! We would love to capture a photo with you. There will be time during the Reception for guests to come up, greet us, and take professional photos together. We may not get as much time during the Muhurtham due to the ceremony schedule, but we promise we’ll make sure we get to say hello and snap a picture! We can’t wait to celebrate and create these memories with you. 💛✨
A Tamil Muhurtham is a beautiful, sacred, and deeply traditional ceremony filled with meaningful rituals and symbolism. The ceremony typically takes place in the morning and is conducted by priests chanting Vedic mantras in Sanskrit and Tamil. You’ll see rituals such as: 🔔 Blessings from elders 🔥 A sacred fire (Agni) at the center of the ceremony 🌸 Garland exchange 💛 The tying of the thaali (mangalsutra), one of the most significant moments 🌾 Showering the couple with rice for prosperity The ceremony may feel longer than Western weddings, but each ritual has special meaning rooted in family, faith, and tradition. Don’t worry if you don’t understand everything — just soak in the colors, music, and energy!
For the Muhurtham, shoes must be removed if you are stepping onto the main stage where the ceremony is taking place. The stage is considered a sacred space during the rituals. If you are seated in the guest area, you may keep your shoes on. For other events (like the Reception or Sangeet), you can keep your shoes on as usual.
The local currency in Chennai (and all of India) is the Indian Rupee (INR). We recommend having some INR on hand for small purchases, tips, transportation (like auto-rickshaws), and local vendors. Most hotels, malls, and larger restaurants accept credit and debit cards, and ATMs are widely available throughout the city. You can exchange a small amount before traveling or withdraw cash from an ATM once you arrive in India. Exchange rates fluctuate, so it’s best to check the current rate close to your trip.
Yes! You can absolutely use Uber in Chennai. It’s widely available throughout the city and is one of the easiest ways to get between venues, hotels, and even the airport. In addition to Uber, you’ll also see Ola (a local ride-share app) and auto-rickshaws — all convenient options depending on your comfort and budget. Just make sure your phone has data (local SIM or roaming) so you can book rides easily.
