Think relaxed tropical vacation outfits. Feel free to get as Hawaiin-festive as you would like. What you would wear out to a nice dinner on a tropical vacation..
This is a dressier event, but we are still on an Island, so think more semi-formal attire. Ladies - lightweight, colorful, mid to floor-length dresses with comfortable heels. Please be aware that much of the event will take place on grass so consider avoiding stiletto heels and opt for a shoe with a block heel. Men - think lightweight, light color or linen suits with a dress shirt and dress shoes.
You will need to fly into the main airport in Maui (OGG Airport). From OGG you have the option of renting a car and making the ~ 2 hour famously beautiful, but windy and long drive to Hana. We would not recommend you do this drive at night. The drive has many worthy lookout points, waterfalls, and hikes along the way. The hotel has a private plane available to groups of 2 or more people that you can arrange a pickup directly with the hotel, which only takes around 20 minutes. The cost is $115 per person, per way. We will also provide a van or two from OGG airport and from Wialea for those that would like this option. Please contact Sophie or Roberta/Bruce for more details about this option.
Reservations must be made prior to July 22 to access the group rate. A two-night deposit for room and tax will be taken at the time of booking (full prepayment if only booking 2 nights). The deposit is refundable if the individual reservation is canceled by July 22, 2022. Reservations canceled after this date are non-refundable.
On May 25, Governor David Ige issued an amendment to the nineteenth emergency proclamation lifting the mask mandate for all individuals outdoors, effective immediately. Mask wearing is still highly recommended outdoors, when in large groups. The indoor mask mandate remains unchanged. While the State of Hawaii is aware of the new CDC guidelines, Hawaii’s mask mandate still remains in effect, and the policies/protocols regarding travel to Hawaii still remain in effect even for those fully vaccinated. All individuals, vaccinated and unvaccinated, are required to wear face coverings over their noses and mouths when in public settings and indoors.
Hana and its surrounding areas are considered "Real Hawaii" by many due to its having remained unchanged relative to the rest of Hawaii's development. Hana is a quaint, remote little town that offers Maui visitors a place to relax and get away from it all. In Hana you can grab a bite to eat at one of the three restaurants in town, you can go shopping in one of the boutique stores and graze the local roadside fruit stands.
