Travel Note
Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure date. While there are no mandatory health requirements to enter Spain, the CDC and WHO recommend staying up to date on vaccinations, including but not limited to Hepatitis A & B, Polio, Flu, COVID-19, Pneumonia, Meningitis, Chickenpox, Shingles, Tdap, and MMR. *Note: As of May 2026, U.S. citizens do not require a travel visa to enter Spain. For all other nationalities, please refer to Annex I of the EU Regulation for more information. ETIAS: The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) is expected to become operational in the last quarter of 2026. Travel Note
To get to Toledo, first take the Airport Express bus (Route 203) from the airport to Madrid Puerta de Atocha–Almudena Grandes Train Station. It operates daily from 6:00 AM-11:30 PM, running every 15-20 minutes with stops at Terminals 1, 2, and 4. Tickets cost €5 and can be purchased on board with cash (maximum change 20€) or contactless payment. *Note: Once you arrive at the station, you will need to take the AVANT mid-distance high-speed train to Toledo.
Train
Renfe is Spain's national railway company. Renfe AVANT is a mid-distance high-speed train, which will take you directly to Toledo. The train operates between Madrid Puerta de Atocha–Almudena Grandes (Train Station) and Toledo, with a travel time of about 34 minutes. The first train departs Madrid at 6:45 AM and the last at 8:45 PM, with departures running roughly every hour. Once you arrive at Toledo Station, we recommend taking a cab or taxi directly to the Cigarral. Adult fares start at $17. Note: Children ages 0–3 travel free if they do not occupy a seat, but they must still have their own free child ticket.

Feeling tired after a long flight and ready to head straight to Toledo? You can choose from several transportation options, including rental cars, local taxis, pre-booked airport transfers, or Uber. The journey from Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport to Toledo is about 85 km (53 miles) and takes roughly 60 minutes, depending on traffic. Prices typically range from €80 to €180, depending on the service chosen.
