• 2012 Sophia and Dakota first crossed paths as freshmen at the dorms on the fourth floor of Wilkeson Quad 8. She glanced, he glanced—then for months, they kept passing each other every day, silently sharing those moments without ever speaking. • 2013 A year later, Sophia and Dakota ended up at the same open house party off of South Campus and chatted for the first time. What was supposed to be just a quick ‘Hi, nice to finally meet you’ turned into something a little more—but they forgot to exchange numbers .·°՞(˃ ᗝ ˂)՞°·. Sophia put her secret FBI skills to work, tracked Dakota down on Facebook, and sent him a friend request—yep, she was the one who made the first move—but never hit send on the message. • 2014 Sophia and Dakota crossed paths again in their university classes and eventually got to know each other a little bit better through their greek life involvement. Dakota would 'not so secretly' meet Sophia at her dorms for their study sessions. Sophia and Dakota had their unofficial-yet-official first date that March at Wonjo in Koreatown, followed by a long walk to Yaya Tea in Chinatown. Over boba, they talked about their childhood, families, and future plans. Eventually, they asked each other to be their dates for the end-of-year formals. • 2015-2016 Sophia and Dakota managed to survive the rest of undergrad together with good times and a few rough patches. One summer, they even bonded over dissecting human cadavers in Gross Anatomy—nothing says romance like scalpels and formaldehyde! • 2017-2018 Dakota finished undergrad and returned to NYC to begin PT school, while Sophia stayed at UB to finish OT school. They did long distance for a year until Sophia graduated in 2018 and officially moved back to NYC. • 2019-2020 Sophia and Dakota were slowly adjusting to life apart—no longer just a doorstep away at Amherst Apartments, but now living at opposite ends of NYC, between Brooklyn and Queens. Their weekends consisted of: swapping heartwarming and horrifying patient stories, cooking elaborate three-course meals, and chasing PRs at Blink Fitness in Boerum Hill. When COVID-19 hit NYC in March, they quarantined separately and didn’t see each other for over three months! The rest of the year was a blur of virtual graduations, sun-soaked afternoons in Prospect Park, outdoor dining on makeshift street patios, and pretty much just trying to survive. • 2021 Sophia and Dakota kept grinding—balancing full-time jobs while also taking on home care patients across the city. • 2022-2026 Sophia and Dakota decided to move to Bay Area, California to begin their travel therapy journey. What was supposed to be a short-term stop turned into a three-year stay and going, thanks to their love for the constant sunshine, spontaneous hikes, and weekend trips to wine country. Somewhere along the way—on February 3rd, 2024—Dakota proposed to Sophia during a romantic dinner boat sailing across the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, Thailand.
