The First Date

5.11.17

It all started with a dating app back in May of 2017. While perusing photos of eligible bachelors, Megan came across one particularly handsome fella that caught her eye. He had a friendly smile, no shirtless gym selfies, and a particularly impressive photo of himself soaring over a car on his skateboard. Megan thought that definitely deserved a comment, and she summoned up the courage to send Chris a message. After texting for a bit, the two decided to meet for drinks at Hudson House, a local bar near Megan's apartment in Redondo Beach. Although both were a bit nervous at first, the conversation was fun and easy and the time passed quickly as they got to know one another. Always the gentleman, Chris walked Megan to her car and they said good night. Although Chris considers this their first date, Megan likes to think of it as the night they met. According to her, their first "real" date would come a week later.

The First "Real" Date

5.19.17

The two texted back and forth for a few days after their night out and then made plans to go to a Dodger game the following Friday. As all Dodger fans know, winding through L.A. traffic on a Friday night and getting in and out of Dodger Stadium is no easy task. They both hoped things would go well...because they were going to be stuck with each other for a while. Fortunately things did go well and traffic didn't seem so bad as they chatted, joked, and laughed on their way to Chavez Ravine. When they got to the stadium Chris impressed Megan with seats right on third base line...the closest she had ever been. There were fireworks after the game that night (literally and figuratively!) and Megan knew she really, really liked Chris when he leaned over and kissed her on the cheek as they watched the fireworks and Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" played in the background.

The Proposal

7.2.19

A little over two years into dating, Chris joined Megan and her parents on vacation in Montana, a place near and dear to Megan's heart. It was a full house as Megan's brother Matthew and his family, her Aunt Anita, her cousin Shane and his wife Nicole, and her cousin Tiffany and her family were also visiting for the 4th of July holiday. On July 2 they all decided to venture over to Glacier National Park to see the sights and go for a hike. After a bit of a drive, they embarked on their hike, stopping to take in all of the beautiful sights along the way before finally reaching breathtaking Avalanche Lake. Once they had dipped their toes in the chilly water and taken plenty of pictures, Megan was ready to head back. However, Chris said he wanted to keep exploring, and so the two took a walk around to the other side of the lake. Little did Megan know Chris was actually trying to find a private spot away from the crowds to propose, as he knew Megan would not want an audience. This proved harder than he thought (as they would both soon find out). The two walked and talked and just as Chris began to get down on his knee and Megan realized what was happening, a group of hikers came upon them. Surprised and flustered by the onlookers Megan blurted out, "No, no, no," which she quickly followed up with, "just wait until the people are gone" when she saw Chris's shocked face. After a few nervous moments waiting for the hikers to move on Chris tried again. This time there were no unexpected visitors and of course Megan said, "YES, YES, YES!"
