Question

When should we plan to arrive at the venue?

Answer

So a couple of things, first of all, please be well aware of Friday traffic and the time of the wedding. I know, way to go Kristina and Alex. We really did try to schedule things out the best we could with the different factors in mind and 4:00 p.m. was the best we could do. On any given day, traffic usually starts building up by 2:00 p.m. Please give yourself plenty of time to head over to the venue. We're thinking 1 hour and 15 minutes if you're staying within the city proper, more though if you're staying in the surrounding suburbs.

Question

What will the parking situation be like at the venue?

Answer

The venue has one parking lot below (very limited spots) and then the main lot, where most of you will be utilizing. Because the lower parking lot has such limited space, we ask that unless you are involved in the wedding or are doing any kind of unloading/loading, please park in the main lot. There is a roundabout in the front of the venue that is for wedding vendors ONLY. This is a strict guideline per the venue and it's staff, so we ask that you all be respectful of it. The ONLY exception would be is if someone is transporting one of our beloved grandparents in their vehicle. That would be the only scenario in which you can access it to do a quick drop off/ pick up. This was a special request made by us to the event coordinator for the safety of our wiser guests that will be attending. Please be respectful on all of the above as we do not want to have any issues with management.

Question

What will the weather be like in August when we visit Portland?

Answer

Well, typically, it's the warmest month of the year and our wedding day (the exact date) last year, was one of the hottest days of the summer (we're talking 99 degrees). That being said, Portland did not have a typical winter (record breaking snow) in which spring was nonexistent so for summer, who knows. Even in a typical Portland summer though, there's sporadic summer rain. We're going to say (and really hoping) that it should be dry for the wedding weekend but just in case, bring an umbrella/rain jacket. And if the weather forecast does predict rain on our special day (the whole wedding is outdoors), we'll be having tents throughout the venue, don't you worry. In the meantime, cross your fingers that it doesn't.

Question

Can we talk public transit?

Answer

We could but it wouldn't last very long. Alex and I haven't had much time to check it out and get a good grip on it (we walk everywhere). But we can say that the few times we have, we were pretty successful! What we have found useful is the Google app or for iPhone users, Maps (the app already on the phone). And our understanding is, you can pretty much get anywhere with public transportation (e.g. ride from the airport to the city) via either streetcar, the MAX, lightrail, or bus. Make sure you have exact change before you head out! Good luck...you can do this.
