Flights: There is a higher fee for non-Ecuadorians purchasing flights to Galapagos Islands and a ~$100 fee to enter the national park. Activities: The Galapagos Islands are primarily for adventure and nature seekers. While there are nice beaches on the islands, it is not a sunbathing and cocktails destination.
This is an obvious place to start. One can’t visit Quito without checking out the historic center and all it has to offer. In the historic center, you’ll find stunning colonial buildings, cute cafes and restaurants, and also the presidential palace at Plaza Grande.
The Basílica del Voto Nacional is the largest neo-gothic basilica in all of Latin America. To put it simply, this cathedral is stunning and the architecture is immaculate. You just have to visit the Basílica del Voto Nacional on any visit to Quito!
All of the hot pools at Hotel Termas de Papallacta sit at the base of lush mountains high in the Andes. In total, there are dozens of pools and hot tubs, with water of varying temperatures, that range from swimming pool size to intimate pools for only a few people. It is our favorite place to relax, please do not forget to visit.
The most popular thing to do in Quito is actually an experience! The Mitad del Mundo Monument marks the equator in Ecuador and is the most visited monument in Ecuador. Here at the monument, you can stand in the middle of the world and also climb the trapezoid stone memorial (for free) and get amazing views of the rest of the area.
