Answer

Please refrain from drinking tap water and drink bottled water instead.

Question

Plumbing in Latin America

Answer

Qutio's plumbing system is not as strong as what most of you may know. Please do not flush anything down the toilets and instead discard in trash can found next to the toilets.

Question

Weather

Answer

Our wedding is in the highlands, it can get quite cold so make sure to pack warm clothes and sunblock. If you’re planning on visiting the coast in June make sure to pack light clothing which is traditionally the beach season on the west coast of Ecuador.

Question

Altitude

Answer

Quito is the second highest city in the world (~9350 feet). Some people can experience altitude sickness (especially when exercising), so please take appropriate precautions. DRINK A LOT OF WATER!

Question

Safety and Misc.

Answer

Just like any country in Latin America, be mindful of your personal safety and belongings. Don’t wear too many flashy items in town or walk alone late at night (we suggest Ubers, personal drivers or guides). Keep common sense and you will be totally fine. A driver can also act as a chaperone in the bigger cities, which some may find helpful In bigger cities, we prefer Ubers or personal drivers. Download Uber before you arrive and pick up a local or international SIM card. You can also hire a driver for a day, which is very common. We can put you in touch with some contacts if needed. Between cities or on trips, you can of course rent a car or you can hire a driver (may cost around $100 per day). Keep alert while driving in Ecuador and practice defensive driving. People tend to turn and change lanes without indicating! Most foreign driver licenses are accepted.

For all the days along the way
