Please join us in celebrating our wedding in Ecuador, which has been a long time coming. When lockdowns lift and travel restarts, we hope that our wedding in Ecuador will give you all something adventurous and exciting to look forward to. It will also be an incredibly special moment for the two of us. We stand in front of our family and closest friends to declare our love and commitment to one other.

Sol was recently new to New Jersey, relocating from Boston. She downloaded the "dating apps" to meet new people and to get out there. Shawn being the hopeless romantic that he is was on the dating apps looking for who knows what. We happened to match and Shawn woo'd Sol over with his extensive Spanish vocabulary, "El serpiente en mi pantalones...." we do not need to finish the rest. They agreed to meet at a bar close to Sol's house for some drinks and appetizers. After the first date, Shawn quickly asked Sol out on a second date where we went hiking in Wissahickon Park and shared our first kiss (or as Sol will say, I stole the first kiss). Con el fin conocer nuevas personas y salir a explorar la cuidad un poco más; decidió descargar una de citas en donde hizo conexión con Shawn por su iniciativa romántica de hablar en español que fue un plus. La primera frase que Shawn mencionó fue ``La serpiente de mis pantalones es….’ no podemos terminar el resto de la frase porque esperamos que su imaginación fluya. Decidieron conocerse en un bar cerca de la casa de ella siendo este su primera cita. Al finalizar, él, sin objeción decidió invitarla a salir una segunda ocasión, donde realizaron una caminata en un parque de Philadelphia llamado Wissahickon, allí ocurrió su primer beso.( si la pregunta a Sol ella dirá que Shawn le robo el beso)

After months of designing the ring and pandemic delays, Shawn set out the perfect plan for the proposal. Shawn thought there would be no better place to share our special moment than the place where he "stole" the first kiss (in Sol's words). The morning of our first year anniversary, Shawn convinced Sol to go on a hike at Wissahickon Valley Park, although she was not fully onboard. After arriving at the park and hiking for a little while, Shawn discovered a steep hill that lead up to a rock that overlooked the park. Again, not being fully onboard Shawn had to convince Sol to climb up. After climbing up, Sol with her back turned and admiring the view, Shawn got down on one knee and asked for forever and to be my travel partner for life! Después de algunos meses diseñando el anillo perfecto y por la situación de la pandemia Shawn organizó el plan más romántico y perfecto para pedir la mano de Sol. Shawn pensó que el mejor lugar para compartir ese momento especial sería donde se dieron su primer beso. En la mañana de su primer año de Aniversario, Shawn convenció a Sol ir a celebrar con una caminata por su primer aniversario en el parque Wissahickon, ella no tenía idea de la sorpresa que le iba a esperar, Después de llegar al parque y caminar por un largo tiempo Shawn encontró un roca donde prácticamente obligó a Sol a escalarla, ella empezó a tomar fotos y Shawn estaba listo a pedirle que sea su pareja por siempre y poder recorrer el mundo juntos hasta viejitos.

Shawn and Sol shortly after the proposal knew that we wanted to wait to have our wedding to when all of our family and friends could be together to celebrate. This was extra hard due to being from different countries. Our original plan was to have something small here in the US and something large in Ecuador. We agreed to have one large celebration in Ecuador considering the difficulty getting Sol’s large family to the US. Right after the proposal and our short engagement, we went city hall and filled out our marriage certificate, legally marrying us. This was important for us to start the green card paperwork and allowing for Sol to stay in the US with Shawn. After getting that sorted, we escaped to South Carolina where Shawn’s mom, brothers and grandparents lived to enjoy a mini honeymoon and celebrate with family. We enjoyed the beach and some alone time to start off our new life together. To our surprise Shawn’s family had a mini wedding like celebration for us. Shawn’s grandparents being ministers prayed a blessing over us and Shawn’s mom being a cake master made us a mini wedding cake. This was truly special to us given the circumstances. Over the next year Shawn and Sol enjoyed newly wedded life together by exploring and growing closer and waiting on the green card paperwork to be approved. Finally in August of 2021 we got the approval and Sol received her green card. The day after receiving the green card approval, Shawn and Sol were on a plane to Ecuador. Shawn was finally getting to meet his new family and Sol going home for the first time in nearly 4 years. We spent the next month there with Sol showing Shawn around her home and getting much needed family time. From now until wedding day Shawn and Sol will continue to explore, spend time with our family and friends and of course be spending A LOT of time wedding planning for our special day in which we hope EVERYONE can join us for!
