Food and Drink

Andalusia is a food lover’s paradise! Be sure to try some local dishes while you explore: Cazón en Adobo Pescado Frito Tortillas de Camarones Boquerones Gazpacho or Salmorejo Rabo de Toro (bull's tail) Gambas al Ajillo When it comes to drinks, Andalusia doesn’t disappoint! Here are our recommendations: Tinto de Verano (the local version of Sangria) Local wines Sherry Vermouth Cruzcampo (Andalusia’s famous beer brand)

Seville

Seville

Seville, AN, Spain

We highly recommend spending time in Sevilla if you haven't been before. Sevilla is the capital city of Andalucia and is full of amazing tapas bars, Flamenco shows and more. Check out the Plaza de España, neighborhoods like Alfalfa and Triana, as well as amazing restaurants like Maria Trifulca. You can't miss the Sevilla Cathedral as well!

Cádiz

Cádiz

Cádiz, AN, Spain

Cadiz is a magical, seaside city just south of Jerez and it's the gateway to Africa. If you're looking to cool down and check out the beaches, we recommend going to El Puerto de Santa Maria nearby and taking the ferry (or driving) to Cadiz to eat fried fresh fish and drink beer/wine. Check out the fish market with numerous food stalls, the Cathedral, and get lost in the winding streets in the ocean breeze.

Gonzalez Byass

Gonzalez Byass

12 Calle Manuel María González, Jerez de la Frontera, AN 11403, Spain

You might not know this, but the word Jerez means "Sherry." Sherry is a major part of southern Spanish culture and it's a bit different from other wines - you'll be drinking a lot of it at our wedding. Gonzalez Byass (Tio Pepe) does sherry tours and tastings and it's right in the city center of Jerez - we highly recommend reserving a tour (offered both in English and Spanish) to get a true taste of Jerez.

Pueblos Blancos

Pueblos Blancos

Andalucía is famous for its Pueblos Blancos (White Villages). Most of the pueblos are a great day trip from Jerez and our favorites include Vejer de la Frontera and Arcos de la Frontera. These villages are great for walking, eating and exploring. Vejer is home to one of our favorite restaurants -- El Jardín del Califa.

Sanlúcar de Barrameda

Sanlúcar de Barrameda

Sanlúcar de Barrameda, AN 11540, Spain

Located on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, Sanlúcar de Barrameda is a beautiful town about 30 minutes from Jerez famous for its langostinos and fresh fish. They are also known for manzanilla, which is a type of sherry. The largest sherry producer in Sanlúcar is Barbadillo, who also offers tours. One of our favorite restaurants is Mirador de Doñana as well as Casa Bigote - you can't leave Sanlúcar without trying a tortillita de camarones!

Ronda

Ronda

Ronda, AN 29400, Spain

Ronda is a mountaintop town in Andalucia famous for its Puente Nuevo, a stone bridge that crosses over a large gorge. Ronda is about a 1.5-hour drive from Jerez and is another great day or overnight trip option for guests looking to explore more of the province.

Madrid

Madrid

Madrid, MD, Spain

Madrid is the capital city of Spain, and many of you will likely be flying through Madrid Barajas airport if you're coming from the United States. We recommend spending a couple of days in Madrid on the way into Spain or before you head home to check out Spain's largest city, home to famous monuments, the Royal Family and old-school tapas bars.

Granada

Granada

Granada, AN, Spain

Granada is another famous city in Andalucia located about 3 hours from Jerez. Granada is home to the Alhambra - a fortress complex built by the Moorish rulers of Granada (you will see a lot of Moorish/Islamic influence in southern Spain through the architecture and cuisine). Granada is also famous for its tapas bars, where many bars will give you a free tapa or two if you order drinks.
