Oregon Garden Resort

The resort has 102 rooms on site so book soon! I anticipate packing the whole place with our party. When you call for reservation, give them code TAER to save $20 (for wedding night only). Rooms come w/complimentary breakfast, free access to the gardens (w/room key) and access to the pool (w/room key). There's a restaurant, a bar/lounge and day spa on site too! We are staying here and will see some of you at breakfast! The resort rooms are great, w/back patios, and within a short walking distance from the main lodge. Wedding ceremony is a short drive down the hill or a 10 minute walk through the gardens to the Garden Green & Grand Hall. We highly recommend you take the tram tour to learn all about the gardens and locate all of them with ease. Stop in at their gift shop at the visitor center for local and creative items! Cafe located there too. If you're interested in using their day spa (no manis and pedis available any longer), make your reservations early.

Portland International Airport (PDX)

This is the main airport you'll want to use for traveling. Ready to get in on the classic photos of your shoes on the PDX carpet? Well this is the airport it's all been happening at. Granted, good luck finding the old and infamous beloved crazy PDX carpet anymore but you'll most definitely enjoy your time there. It's one of the nicest in the country with loads of good food and local stores to shop! Want to bring local wine and/or beer back with you? They sell a lot of it in all the terminals, past security. : ) Robin is a huge fan of Southwest Airlines since they don't charge fees for up to two checked bags for each person. And that doesn't even include the two carry on bags they allow on the flight with you. Out...of...control. I know, I know.

For those looking for a rental home, possibly even sharing with other people on this trip, I've looked at this site and there are some homes in the surrounding area for rent! The cost is anywhere from $94/night to $344/night, which doesn't include deposit or cleaning fees, depending on the location and number of people it sleeps. The wedding is in Silverton and the surrounding towns and cities (within a 35 minute drive) are Molalla, Salem, Woodburn, Colton, Mulino, Mt. Angel, St. Benedict, North Howell, Hubbard and Keizer. We know our friends love their RV camping, because we do too! One of the nicest parks is within 2 miles of the Oregon Garden! They might still have 10 spaces we could block for people that want to stay right near one another (spots 49-58); no guarantees. The cost is $50.90/night and that already includes tax. They've got a little lodge on site, a pool (no lifeguard), free cable, a game room, free wi-fi and even a small catch & release fishing pond!

If you have some extra time, I hear traveling by rail is one of the best ways to see the countryside. You could choose to stop in at the Portland, Oregon Union Station (1.25 hrs from Oregon Garden). The closest station to the Oregon Garden Resort is Salem, OR and the station closest to our home is Oregon City, OR. It looks like they do have some promotional discounts and kids ride for 50% off!
