Once upon a swipe, in the city of Gothenburg, where October usually means chilly winds and grey skies, something unexpected happened: sunshine! Yes, a glorious, almost suspiciously warm day at 20 degrees(!), a rare event in Swedish autumn. And on that sunny day, Claudia and Simon’s story began. Claudia, an adventurous Spanish/Romanian, had recently moved to Sweden for what was supposed to be a short six-month internship at Volvo. The plan was simple: work, explore, and head back south before Swedish winter could get too serious. But life had other ideas. Enter Simon, a tall and charming Swede with a great smile and a knack for changing plans. Their first meeting? Casual, sweet, and surprisingly warm, both in weather and in vibes. Claudia’s first thought was, “Wow, he’s tall and very handsome”, quickly followed by, “And very pale...”. Meanwhile, Simon was instantly smitten, thinking Claudia was absolutely stunning. They walked around the city and ended up having a Swedish fika while chatting effortlessly. It just felt easy and natural. What started as a brief Swedish visit for Claudia turned into a five-year adventure. Five years of laughter, love and perhaps a little too much herring. But after those five years, they wanted something new. The idea? Obviously move to sunny Spain! The result? They ended up in the Netherlands. At least halfway to Spain and slightly better weather than Sweden. Now, almost two years later, they are still in the Netherlands, enjoying life’s little surprises and planning their next adventure. Because, as they’ve learned, the best plans are the ones you don’t expect.
