We met the modern way — by both swiping right on Tinder in January of 2017. Sierra was finishing her last semester at Colorado State University and launching her medical career in the EMT program. Jared was working as a DJ for the Colorado Eagles, wooing crowds with bangers and occasional dad jokes. After a week of texting (and thoroughly vetting each other’s Spotify playlists), we decided to meet in person at a karaoke bar in Fort Collins (Island Grill) on a random Tuesday night. The place was rumored to be a hot spot for good food and entertainment, but to our surprise, it was completely empty — just us, a couple beers, and several hours of nonstop conversation. Jared swears he fell in love that night, and Sierra says she found her new best friend (preview: Jared was in the friendzone before he even knew it). After the date, Jared followed Sierra home to make sure she got back safely… Sierra invited him inside to see the infamous No Shoes Nation flag and Patrick Kane jersey hanging in her room. Jared, surprised by the messiness of Sierra's room, decided to make Sierra's bed (let it be known, this would definitely be the last time this happened for many years)! A few weeks later, Jared showed up on Valentine's Day with wine and flowers — only for Sierra to ditch him after 30 minutes to go study at the library. Bold move. But persistence and patience paid off: two months later, after many dates, sorority functions, and meeting family/friends -- during a Colorado Avalanche vs. Chicago Blackhawks game, Sierra finally agreed to be his girlfriend by quietly turning around her Claddagh ring. Jared still counts that as the best win of the night (the Avalance won this game in overtime). The rest, as they say, is history — and we’re so excited to write the next chapter together! We are looking forward to celebrating with each and every one of you, as we are so grateful for the role y'all have played in not only our lives individually, but our relationship as a couple.
