It all started in early September 2021. Ryan was attending the University of Cincinnati, and Jaida was just about to make the big move from Marion to Delaware. A couple weeks before Jaida was set to sell her house in Marion, she decided to change her Hinge (dating app) location to Delaware to get a feel for the scene. She came across someone who lived a little further away, but he was handsome, funny, and 6'5... Swipe right! At the same time, Ryan saw an amusing woman with an adorable cat (Moshi) who claimed she would serenade him with cartoon theme songs. He turned on his natural charm and started a chat. The conversation quickly evolved into a whole manner of topics, such as tortillas and the prestigious Marion Popcorn Festival. Somehow… this lead to a first date! Jaida and Ryan decided on Downtown Delaware for a meeting spot. On Tuesday, September 14th, 2021, they met up at the bench in front of Pat's Records. After some pizza at Mohio, macaroons at Ciao, and nerdy conversation at Gameplay Unlimited, they knew that they had to see each other again. Falling in love almost instantly, Jaida and Ryan started going steady. Traveling between Cincinnati and Delaware each weekend, Jaida and Ryan made the most out of the few days they had together by experiencing all they could. New foods, festivals, markets, concerts... the list goes on and on. After Ryan graduated from UC in 2023, the couple moved into their new apartment in Columbus! Since creating a home together, Ryan and Jaida have planted solid roots in their city, finding new hobbies and making new friends that have changed their lives for the better. They continued to embrace their new home and all that came with it until... ENGAGEMENT!! On June 29th, 2024, it was a warm, rainy day. Ryan and Jaida were walking to the parking garage after attending Comfest with their friends Jeffrey and Raymo. They were passing McFerson Commons when Ryan started to lead Jaida to the Union Station Arch. Under the arch, Ryan got on one knee, pulled out a ring box shaped like a cowboy hat and asked, "Jaida, will you be my pardner?" It was silly, it was perfect, of course Jaida said..."YES!" On March 11th of this year, Ryan and Jaida's lives were forever changed when they lost their pride and joy, Moshi to a hard-fought battle with kidney disease. Moshi loved her parents with all of her tiny heart, and Ryan and Jaida reciprocated that love tenfold. They still think of her anytime they cut raw chicken, turn on the shower, or open the bedroom closet door - all things that Moshi loved. Today, Jaida and Ryan are still cozy in their Columbus home with Moshi's siblings: Trix and Catthew, falling more in love each and every day. They are so very excited to be Mr. & Mrs. Shuster-Conley!
