We know many of you are traveling far and wide to come celebrate our wedding with us. To maximize our time with you we've secured a block of on-site lodging from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning. Send us an email at (shujamiewedding@gmail.com) for more details. Shu or Jamie (let's be honest, most likely Shu) will promise to be prompt responding!
Duke University brought Shu and Jamie together. Notable Sites: Sarah Duke Gardens: Public, free, and GORGEOUS Hogwarts....I mean the rest of Duke's Main Campus. Start at the historical Duke Chapel and Explore! Cameron Indoor Stadium: Also known as College Basketball Mecca, it is where we spent many amazing hours of our lives screaming, jumping, and getting engaged.
This is, hands-down, the best chicken and waffles you will ever have. If you get to have one free meal in NC during our wedding, it should probably be here. Reservations at least 1.5 weeks ahead of time are required. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR GO MAKE A RESERVATION RIGHT NOW
Ben (groomsman) and Jamie have eaten so many burgers here, our names should probably be on the wall. This is the only restaurant in Durham that Jamie used to go to, alone, just to read and have a burger/beer. If you wish to be one of the few, the brave, the bold, you can come and see if you can kill a "Defibrillator" burger with a side of tater tots.
If you come from a place that isn't known for BBQ or haven't spent a lot of time in the south, it is worth taking the time to see what you have been missing. The Pit is one of our favorite sit-down bbq places in Durham with great beer, whiskey, and most importantly pork! (North Carolina BBQ is based a lot around pork and pulled pork. You can find brisket but that is more of a Texas thing)
For those of you staying in Chapel Hill, this is one of the few rooftop bars in the area. I (Jamie) am a great lover of rooftop bars, so this was always a favorite for classy nights out.
If you are feeling artsy, the D-PAC is a beautiful beautiful performing arts center with lots of plays and performances
Because I guess Lemurs are real animals? As seen in movies such as Madagascar and Madagascar 8 (the journey back and then home and then back again), the Lemurs are very cute. Duke is studying them for a reason I don't know but it will probably save our lives someday.
If you are feeling intellectual, the Nasher is a wonderful art museum on Duke's campus
