In November of 2018, Shoshana and Chris were in two different places in their lives, but both were out exploring the Madison dating scene. Using the dating app Hinge, Shoshana liked Chris’s response to one of the prompts asking about his simple pleasures, which included going to the movies, hiking, reading, and road trips. They quickly matched wits and stumbled through a conversation before deciding to meet for drinks at a bar across from Shoshana’s apartment. They both felt an immediate connection, and although Shoshana left shortly afterwards to travel to Europe, they reconnected when she returned and began dating. Through their courtship they discovered each other’s interests, like Shoshana’s love of plants, and Chris’s love of the Fast & Furious franchise. They admired each other’s willingness to participate in almost any activity happening around Madison, from wrestling and comedy shows, to concerts and bingo nights. They met friends and families, learned about their respective faiths, went to Canada, and survived a pandemic together.

In January of 2021, after more than two years of dating, Chris began putting a plan into action to propose to Shoshana. What followed was several weeks of clever deception as he worked to keep the engagement a surprise. On March 6, 2021, Chris brought Shoshana back to her old apartment and proposed. Lucky for him, she said yes. Now they are eagerly planning their wedding and cannot wait to celebrate with all of their family and friends!
