Business casual/semi formal.
We’re planning a week of activities and were able to meet our budget. We have a small budget and were able to save a great deal than a Friday or Saturday. The idea is that this is a destination wedding since there is so much to do in Chicago. You’ll be able to do a lot more than just the wedding!
CTA and Ubers are your best bet, though you CAN drive in the city. There is metered parking but you have to pay attention to the parameters. The CTA is our bus and train system, you can get what is called the Ventra card which you can also add to your apple wallet/google wallet. We recommend instead of adding money, you do something like a 1 day pass, 3 day pass, or 7 day pass. We’re happy to show you the ropes when you’re here! Ubers and Lyfts are very easy here and typically more affordable than rural southern areas. Again, you can drive, but Chicago traffic is not for the faint of heart! If you do come you can also check out Spot Hero to rent someone’s parking spot.
Yes! We’re able to accept 1 plus one and 2 children.
Nope! Our venue is under review and the hotel is Congress Hotel. Even if you don’t choose to stay at the Congress you have to see it to believe it.
Layers. Wear layers. It can be warm, or it could be freezing. When it comes to autumn in the city everyone has mastered cardigans/hats/scarves/ear muffs/light jackets/heavy jackets/snow boots/sneakers.
Yes. You’ll have access to beer and wine, but we also have sodas and juices for those in sobriety. There is no pressure to drink at all.
Yes and no. I tend to avoid being out late at night or hanging on the far west or south sides, but we are portrayed to be way more extreme than it is on an average day. All people should have pepper spray if it helps them feel better. Also, there is strength in numbers. I avoid quiet/empty areas. Make sure you have no valuables or ways to identify you visible in your car. We feel safe most of the time and are happy to call Chicago home.
