And for the long explanation!

Hello loved ones, We are so excited about celebrating our wedding with you! Given the complexities of an overseas, cross cultural, multi day wedding we thought it was a great idea to put all of the information here to keep everyone in the loop as well as give you our recommendations.

RSVPs

We are so grateful to have so many amazing people in our lives. With this comes the hard decision of who to invite to our wedding, particularly given our venue is limited to 150 guests. For our initial invitations given out in January we are asking that you please kindly RSVP by Friday 31st of January. We appreciate that this is very short notice, but it means that if you are unable to attend then we can offer the invitation to another loved one. Please RSVP on this website or alternatively you can contact us to let us know. Please note the RSVP section on the website will be available to use in the coming days

The Shiv & Carolyn Back Story

So how did we get to planning a big Indian wedding overseas in Bali in a few months time?!

Well for those who aren’t aware of the back story, here it is! At the start of 2024 both Shiv and Carolyn had given up a bit of hope that they would find their person and have the life they were both dreaming of. Then came a day in early 2024 when Shiv and Carolyn started chatting on the dating app Hinge. They quickly scheduled a first date after realising that they were both looking for the exact same things in life. To say the first date went well was an understatement! It went amazingly and they both ended the night feeling a little bit excited to have possibly met the one. I will add, this was despite Shiv and his usual tardiness, turning up to the restaurant 45 minutes late. If it wasn't for Shiv being his usual charming and charismatic self and keeping Carolyn in the loop with his running events of misfortunes that ended up in him being late we may not be planning this wedding today! What followed from this was a year of getting to know each other and falling more and more in love every day. Being the ages they are, Shiv and Carolyn decided to pack as much dating as they could into the year - getting to know each other's family and friends, moving in together, Shiv also falling in love with Carolyn's poodle Molly and realising he had always needed a big black poodle in his life haha, and lots of fun and entertaining along the way. It became offical on Christmas Day 2024 with Shiv proposing and putting a very beautiful ring on Carolyn's finger. And here we are today! We are so excited about everything that’s to come in our lives, the first being our wedding!

Why Bali?

While Shiv had been busy dreaming of his perfect wedding for years, this wasn't the case for Carolyn. It wasn't something she'd actually thought too much about until she met Shiv and her ideal wedding was more of a small, intimate possibly destination wedding. And we all know that small does not describe an Indian wedding in any way! While initially the thought of having a huge, multi-day wedding was a bit overwhelming for Carolyn, she quickly came to realise that she was actually so lucky to be able to experience such a joyous and meaningful wedding. When it came to organising the details, location and dates were the first things to decide on. With the cost of a multiple day wedding in Melbourne being prohibitive, the idea of Bali came about. This would allow us to combine Carolyn's wish for a destination wedding but also allow Shiv to have the multi-day Indian wedding he'd been dreaming of. All of this in a beautiful and tropical location which would also allow them to have their closest family and friends enjoy a holiday with them whilst also celebrating their wedding. As for dates, they of course consulted Pundit Ashok Mishra who advised them the best time for the wedding, and with that the date was set - 3rd to 5th of June 2025!
