The Baraat is a lively, high-energy wedding procession that escorts the groom to the ceremony venue. The groom arrives on a beautifully decorated mare ("ghodi"), surrounded by family and friends who sing, dance, and celebrate wildly as he makes his way to his bride, amidst the infectious beats of the drum ("dhol"). It symbolizes the groom’s journey to embrace marriage and the union of two families. Once the Baraat arrives at the wedding venue, the "Milni", or meeting of the two families, occurs. Here members of each family exchange garlands and gifts, and engage in playful banter and merriment.
