New York City, living in a sea of 8 million people, a boy from Long Island and a Pakistani girl from Ottawa met one evening in the Upper East Side. Andrew likes to tell people Shenela “fell” for him that spring evening (she literally tripped and fell), and Andrew, fooled by Shenela’s heels and uptown vibes, didn’t foresee a second date. But, as fate would have it, several months later, they met up again… this time, Andrew came prepared with some cookies and Shenela, well, she was still in heels. They didn’t see each other much at the start, caught up in their own busy NYC lives, and then COVID hit and the whole world stopped for a while. NYC was at a standstill, the city that never sleeps was brought to its knees (at least for a bit). With not much to do to fill the hours of the day in a shuttered city, Shenela & Andrew started going on long walks. From one borough to the next. Trying out different coffee shops and bakeries along the way. They started hiking regularly and soon Andrew realized there was more to Shenela than her heels, that she sometimes traded them in for hiking boots or her spin shoes. The rest is history.
