We were searching, sometimes actively, sometimes casually, but searching. We both had big holes in our hearts and dreamed of what would fill that hole. Our hearts were damaged. Some of it was self-inflicted, some just a consequence of life’s cruel curveballs. We knew we were out there...somewhere...but could not find the path. A knowing doubt began to creep in. Maybe we didn’t deserve happiness. We prayed. Our paths “Matched.” Strange coincidences, chance encounters, yet we (mostly James) didn’t see clearly. We prayed more and God opened our eyes. One, two, or even three could be chance or coincidence...really? God kept chipping away. Jimmy Cliff sang a song in the 90’s titled “ I can see clearly now” and finally we did. James asked his soon-to-be sixth son Parker for his blessing to marry his mom. Received, he knelt down at New City Church in front of family and friends, cried, and asked to marry her. We had hoped and prayed to find the one who would fill and mend our damaged hearts. We had no idea that God would not only heal but expand our capacity to love ten-fold. Thank you for joining us on the special day.
