After both teaching abroad for two years, we came back to the beautiful Midwest. Through some online dating, we stumbled across one another and immediately connected on many things. Between teaching and traveling and everything in between, it was meant to be. Flash forward four years, we plan a summer long adventure in Europe. Little to Shelby’s knowledge, Tor worked with his Spanish students to plan a beautiful proposal. After walking around Barcelona in the morning, we took a group picture in front of La Sagrada Familia, when Tor pulled Shelby to the front of the group. Succeeding in his proposal and catching Shelby completely off guard (not easy to do as an elementary teacher), the security guards stepped forward. Through a little back and forth, Tor and his colleagues were able to convince them he had proposed and was not holding signs that said “Merry Christmas.” We continued our European journey after the students went home by traveling around Spain, then to Croatia, Kosovo and Greece. We look forward to all the places we’ll go to in the future and to celebrating with everyone on our wedding day!
